Are you suggesting that there isn't??? The attempts to make it work have only led to authoritarianism and millions upon millions of dead human beings. Communism IS inherently flawed because it rests upon an idiotic/moronic/FUCKING STUPID view of human nature. We ain't there yet, and it cannot be forced.

I don't think there is one "Pure" ideology that works for huge groups. I think you need a little from a lot of different theories.

This (above) would be my point too that any system taken to an extreme will cause problems. It also has much to do with how government enforces and regulates these systems as to if they are successful or not.

To confuse the attributes of the social system itself with the method government takes to realise it i.e. through positive/negative liberty is a common mistake.

I don't think it depends so much on the political theory or mix thereof. I think it depends on the values and decency of the people, the society. A bunch of greedy fuckheads can (and will) screw up any system.

Well in the UK we used to have the  Official Monster Raving Loony Party, which always appealed to me as a title:)

Well put. The problem though is that greedy fuckheads are always the one's who are going to go after money and power at all costs and therefore are more likely to get it. It's kind of an "all that's necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing' situation.

If you have an answer to this one, you're a wiser man than I.

Well I think this is where indoctrination comes in. I know it's a "dirty word" but, kids need to be taught in no uncertain terms what a civil society requires of them, a secular ethics, if you will, and they need to be taught logic in grade school, so they're not such mush heads when emotion and hormones (and later, politicians) try to crank them up.

We're not in disagreement on this matter. The dumbing down of America is an amazingly wide ranging and consequence filled problem. I see, on both sides of the equation, a total lack or either civic responsibility or logic in most issues right now. But another aspect of the problem is that the power structure is reaping the benefits of this situation and have no stake in changing it.

agreed, mass confusion and a lack of knowledge about politics helps both parties keep a firm foothold in the political arena. educating children on the workings of US politics can only be a bonus. how many times did i have to explain what is required by US law for a bill to become a law? its amazing how even the simplest of facts are often ignored in education.

Michelle Malkin - Do It Yourself Vetting.

The Obama vetters have succeeded in short-circuiting congressional scrutiny and Washington oversight of unaccountable appointees over the last six months. No more. Quis custodes ipsos custodiet? Who is watching the watchdogs? John Q. Public. Do-it-yourself vetting is as easy as a Google search.

Funny.

Is there no one in the Obama administration who is responsible for vetting these Czars before crowning them?

What makes you think they weren't?

Obama adviser Van Jones resigns amid controversy

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.

Van Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly "green jobs," has been linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the Sept. 11 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

***

As for his other comments he made before joining Obama's team, Jones said: "If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize."

Something to consider regarding Van Jones' resignation - there was enough there to force the guy out, but there was nary a peep about the guy on CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, and so on.

You heard it here first...   [;)]

Yep....nary a word......in fact, those duplicitous bastards went so far as to hide it on the front page of the New York Times online.

You heard it here first

Umm, Spinner?  Your link goes to the New York Times covering the resignation.  I think Sanity was suggesting that the media ignored the evidence that was coming out and caused his resignation.

ok so it was on the back blog page.  Are you pretending that is the same as running it on the evening news?

Glad this piece of crap is outof government.

Sanity -> RE: "Truther" in the White House? (9/6/2009 6:14:57 AM)

Thank you Rich, that's exactly what I meant. The media (including the New York Times) ignored the things that lead up to the resignation, which is typical.

I also pointed this same thing out in post 30.

http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=2790899

According to the Times article Spinner linked to, "Controversy over Mr. Jones’s past comments and affiliations has slowly escalated over several weeks, erupting on Friday with calls for his resignation." but if you search the Times itself for " Van Jones" that same article (published just this morning) was the only hit regarding this controversy.
