It also has much to do with how government enforces and regulates these systems as to if they are successful or not. To confuse the attributes of the social system itself with the method government takes to realise it i.e. through positive/negative liberty is a common mistake.

wow... hmmm... so i did like... this thing... called... googling... and i sorta just typed in... umm... political parties... then i added another word... US... and this box i cal... uhh.. a pc .. gave me an amazing site. ~twirls my love beads and grins~ http://www.politics1.com/parties.htm now, please, take a peak at the numerous political parties we have in this country... not just the DNC and RNC... but so many, many more. and we are NOW getting our panties in a wad over THIS? i think we have bigger problems.

The problem though is that greedy fuckheads are always the one's who are going to go after money and power at all costs and therefore are more likely to get it. It's kind of an "all that's necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing' situation. If you have an answer to this one, you're a wiser man than I.

I see, on both sides of the equation, a total lack or either civic responsibility or logic in most issues right now. But another aspect of the problem is that the power structure is reaping the benefits of this situation and have no stake in changing it.

Umm, Spinner? Your link goes to the New York Times covering the resignation. I think Sanity was suggesting that the media ignored the evidence that was coming out and caused his resignation.

Thank you Rich, that's exactly what I meant. The media (including the New York Times) ignored the things that lead up to the resignation, which is typical.
