I'm not sure how we got from the bigotry of Bill Maher to Rush Limbaugh's painkiller addiction, but Maher is a pretty public drug person himself, so maybe not a good track to follow?  Perhaps he hopes to follow in the footsteps of Hunter Thompson and George Carlin, dragging the burned out schtick to the bitter end, never realizing the talent was long gone.

Not that I'm in any way suggesting Bill was ever as good as those two once brilliant social commentators.

Rush developed a new model for daytime talk radio into a multi-million dollar empire.  Not many idiots can do that, and, if you look at his program as a program, instead of as a partisan talking point, he is brilliant at what he does.

My problem with the ole' Rushmeister is not that he was an addict. It was that he was so vocal against drug addicts, drug use and any sign that drug offenders shouldn't be punished to the full extent of the law. It wasn't his pill popping that got to me, it was the hypocrisy of it. Bill is an admitted and unashamed marijuana smoker who has never advocated anything else than the legalization of the substance. I can see a clear difference there, just as I see a clear difference between marijuana and Oxycontin.

Brilliance as a spokeperson... perhaps... smart at twisting the facts.. extremely.. as a person... no.

and as much as many may wish to deny it, the same can be said about Obama.

Since a majority of voters put Obama in the white house, Maher might actually be right for once. Maybe if voters paid attention to what was really going on, he would be back in Chicago.

Which you intended to somehow indicate that Obama being elected proved that Americans were stupid, when in fact, the opposite is true.

Had female democrats fallen for that lame bait and switch tactic the republicans tried after Obama got the nomination, they would have been "stupid."

However, much to the republicans' chagrin, the people proved too smart for that crap and thus, the really stupid bitch was kept out of the second highest position in the country.

I don't believe that McCain was suppose to win that election. I mean, if the republicans really wanted to win they would have used Ron Paul.

Obama is a Harvard Law School graduate and one of the great orators of our time. Even most of his biggest detractors wouldn't argue against his intelligence.
