I googled EvilGeoff.... took me 6 pages to finally find one entry that was related to my collarme profile.

On the other hand, search Evil_Geoff (collarme wouldn't let me use the underscore for some reason) and Google gives you a page and and a half and it's almost ALL me....

*grins*

But I'm out, I don't care if the world knows I'm a perv. My youngest child is 19, Family Court can't say jack-diddley-squat about visitation at this point. Search on.

So folks, if you REALLY want to protect your privacy, you never, EVER show up on the grid. You go underground economy and STAY there. Quake in fear in the closet praying know one opens the door.

I'll walk in the sunlight, thank you. Let the 'nillas beware! *LOLOLOL*

This is very distressing to me. After muddling thru 4 pages of Google for " maybemaybenot ", seems this maybemaybenot does not exist. <me>

I got everything from teenage boy maybemaybenot's on myspace.com to maybemaybenot on an aethiest message board.

I'm so confused now, who am I ?

Am I just an anonomous internet name, never to be known as the real maybemaybenot or am I not aware of my true identity.

I forsee alot of sleepless nights ahead as I struggle with being google non grata

When i did this search... I only got our profile. There wasnt any of our posts. I dont know if that is cuz there has been an update on the seruity or what. We knew that posting our pics would be risky. But we dont make any effort to hide our lifestyle.. so if someone reads our profile and sees the pics and says 'hay... I know them'. I will ask what they were doing searching this site. Lol

I thought these message boards were only available to members; turns out I was wrong. Do a google search of your nic here and every thing you have posted will pop up. Can the site owners limit access? This will be my last post. I don't mind my kinky friends knowing my business; but I don't want the world knowing it. Bye for now.

What I find hard to believe is this is the first time you googled a nic of yours or your name.
I did those things a long time ago knowing google pretty much scopes everything.

Oh well Ya learn something new everyday huh?
If it really freaks you out beware of all the places you go and all the things you say because there is always a possibility (although I think it quite slim too) that someone will run across your words.

Google is a great tool. I use it a lot to introduce myself to other people. I simply tell them to Google my name and do some reading. Just about everything is out there somewhere. I don't say it if I don't mean it.

It's a great way for me to get someone to use the internet and teach them a new trick at the same time. I always let them know that the SHOULD Google my name, and come back to me with any curiosities it brings up or conversations they'd like to have with me. Usually it works, but I've also had a wannbe tell me that I required too much homework. *sigh*

I'm on 6 different sites and if I do a google search on any of the names I use it brings up my profiles, blogs or the Forums I've posted in.
Is this my 15 minutes of fame that Andy Warhol promised?

On a more serious note, I'm careful now who I tell the names I use, to. My vanilla friends wouldn't like some of the pix in my profiles notto mention, my fetish lists

Hmmm... I googled Evanesce2u and there are quite a few things there under my name, but what I find amusing is that the very first one is the link to Master's movie short, "Confederate Zombie Massacre."

Actually i see her post as being something she knew what she was talking about. Because there are people ou there that can and do know how to do this. I know how.. and it was easy to learn.. so yeah.. she's right!.

As with all things on the internet.. someone wants to know something... has or can get the program... can get any and all information they need or want off of here. Day in and Day Out I wtch my PC getting zapped with people scanning it... trying to get past my firewall. The program I have allows me to see each time someone tries.

The one who goes into histerics over seeing that post.. is the one who thought they lived in a bubble and someone needed to pop it for them...

The only people who know the nic "kyraofMists" are people in the lifestyle. In fact the only people in the lifestyle who actually know my real name are my Lord, alandra and the secretary of SPICE.... My Lord and alandra use kyra exclusively when interacting with me and I find that even in my internal dialogue I refer to myself as kyra.

I do not much care if people discovered my kinky side, though if they know me personally they may be shocked over which side of the whip I am on *g*

There's a big difference between being attacked and someone getting information from you. What you are seeing is attacks by people randomly going from one IP address to another. They have no idea who owns that IP address nor do they have any other information. Think of it as a shake-n-grab thief going down an apartmen hall trying one door after another to find one left unlocked.

Getting information from just an IP address is a lot harder especially since a lot of ISPs randomly shuffle IP addresses when people log on and off.

It is easy to get an IP address from an email or chat session, but tracing that back to an individual is virtually impossible unless you have the assistance of the ISP, which isn't likely unless you have a court order, which isn't likely unless you have a damn good reason. Yes, you need to take precautions when on the net such as routers and firewalls and use common sense, but simply visiting a website does not expose your personal information to anyone.

If I am wrong - then why don't you tell me who I am and where I live.

And actually what i say is true.

Really? Then by all means tell me what my IP address is.

Want me to show you a few sites?

http://www.dnsstuff.com/

http://centralops.net/co/

http://www.nirsoft.net/

http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm

there's just a couple of links from my newbie archive. God only knows what folks that know what they're doing have

I *am* one of the folks who knows what they're doing. I've worked for an ISP and I currently design and implement computer networks for a living. Unless someone has a static IP address that's linked to a domain, there's almost no chance of you ever obtaining any personal information about them via their IP address (if you can even manage to obtain that in the first place). All you're likely to ascertain about them after getting their IP address is who their transit provider is and the interface address of the last router before their local network segment.

The links you posted are all based upon registry databases that change so regularly they are often meaningless. You might narrow a point of origin down to it's host city, but you're not going to get anything more than that. For example. I just deployed a network in Denver, Colorado. I entered the IP address of one of my servers and the IP Locator you posted above thinks this server is in Newton, Kansas. Not very helpful or accurate.

quote:

edited to say.. those links took me all of about 30 minutes one day.. no real searching.. just IMAGINE. What some one like my Master has up his sleeve.

I honestly doubt he could do much better.

pretty cool. i should have expected that i'd get a number of gardeing and florists sites as well, but there i was. i don't have any particular concerns that anyone has so little to do that they would spend time looking at my past and pnt forum posts.

and, good advice, i too use a different screnname for this than i do for work.

my google search was boring ... but basically I am pretty out front with who I am ... if they are big enough to ask then they are big enough to tell.

Some freak but most are just curious ... no big deal.
