Termyn8or -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 12:40:03 PM)

Should I mention the time I spent living under a bush in front of a church ? That when I bought my business I was left with $83 operating capital, needless to say nothing was priced less than $17 so I could make change. Or the time I had to dig way back to find something to eat because it took my last dollar to make the house payment.

Actually $70 a week is not so bad, that is about $300 a month. Try to rent anywhere for that. Then if you rent you have gas and electric bills at the very least.

Yeah- in this hick place- one can MAYBE get a room for that.   My brother paid that 20 years ago.

She might be trying tough love.   But now- like- other then blood- where I would HAVE to say yes- as they have been very good to me-  (my immediate family)     With them- I would simply have to work it out.

But someone who I do not get along with or even a regular person- it is not worth $70 to rent a room out.  The house note might be cheap but all the utilities would frankly- cancel the gain.

I hope I never have to have family at the door or vice versa.   But- as we did have some years of fighting we have grew up- and it is pretty much assured that a temp help out would be a certainty.

I think I have less then $20 for a whole week.

I am just curious............enlighten me people.

So often on here, I read about people not knowing where they are going to get money for groceries, rent, medications, whatever..........yet they obviously have a computer and internet service. Why?

If I am worried about groceries, the last thing in the world I am going to cough up money for is internet service. It would be gone so fast, right with the dish tv service. Am I missing something when people can place the value of playing online over the value of food and shelter?

purepleasure -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 1:44:19 PM)

If I were worried about having enough money for groceries, my ass would be pounding the pavement to find enough employment to cover my expenses, including groceries, and not hanging out online playing games... whether they be role playing, or "poor me".

pahunkboy -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 1:46:02 PM)

My server is $15.  I use it all the time.

I am abit thrown off for this month money wise.  I should be able to catch up in 2 weeks.  The money is coming.  I dumped the TV- ($63) the cell ($42) and the local newspaper.

I am behind one month on the water bill- they agree to hold the shut off till next week when I pay them.  And then it is 2 months.

I DID go over board buying silver and then a refrigerator.

My brother- has asked me if I need a loan.  I do NOT.

I should be fine- tho heat costs are a concern- so no more  buying silver- as I am at 100% capacity.

So- yes- it could very well be 6 months before I can do so.   :-?

I have the money coming- I would easily spend $15.  on gas to go to the library to use that computer- tho- that also would get me kicked out.

The computer was a gift and internet connection is necessary for school work and school is the top priority before anything else. Hope that answers your question.

LaTigresse -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 2:05:12 PM)

Pure, I feel the same way...........I would be working at something.....regardless. I guess there is a mindset somewhere I just do not understand. Us old [:D] people have this idea that necessities come before luxuries. A computer, and net access at home, is definitely a luxury for me. Obviously it would be different if I worked at home. I don't.

And PA, for $15 I could have several days of meals........just saying.

I have food.   Not a problem.

Heh, cant speak for others but I know that my computer was a gift.  And everything else is usually covered with just a little play money left over.  But work screwed me, and I am at the bottom of the barrel.  Just another point of view. lol

Well us young people have this idea too. But I guess some old people need an edge to bash the young ones once in a while.

Yeah it obviously is for you. Maybe some of aforementioned old people don't quite have a grip of the reality of today's educational system in many places where arriving with a pencil and a paper gets you nowhere but with a big fat F, since a large portion of it happens on the internet and/or requires swift internet communication. I would love to see the aforementioned old people try doing that before bashing the young for their line of priority.

Just sayin....

subtlebutterfly -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 2:26:19 PM)

gee some are sensitive today[8|]

pahunkboy -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 2:28:51 PM)

I could go to a cheaper server there is one for $4 a month dial up.

But truly-  one needs the Internet in today's age.  TV is lame.  Now that I think of it- I need the Internet to sell those pdfs on ebay.

On the water bill- they changed how they bill.   That is part of the problem.  But I did go over board-   My next step is moving someone in- and I DONT want to do that.

The one thing- with me- it would be easy to sell  a few pieces of my platinum- which is why I bought it.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 3:26:03 PM)

Daddies internet was free provided by the place he lived and it's not so incomprehensible that you can have a computer and be broke, you could have gotten it for free from a friend or freecycle, or even have had it a year or more before you ran into your finacial woes.

Daddy is operating on 0.00 because of a nasty surprise,  and bills haven't even been payed yet, and he won't be payed for 2 weeks either.

Really?  Damn that sucks.  No, wait.  It doesnt!  Try being in my shoes and  having to live (HA) off 7 dollars for 2 weeks.  I'd take having 675 to my name ANY day.

Count your blessings, no matter how small, and let the bad shit roll off your back.

Daddysredhead -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 4:28:15 PM)

Just thinking... $70 for a week and a half (approx. 10 days), is only $7 per day.  That's not bad at all, esp. if the a box under the overpass in the seedy side of town is plan B.  Again, my take is suck it up and deal.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 4:29:05 PM)

..by the way...what's 675?

Daddysredhead -> RE: RANT OF MY WEEKEND (9/28/2009 4:32:42 PM)

$675.00, I think.

I believe that OP is saying she has $675.00 to her name, while her evil big sister has access to Fort Knox.  [8|]

WAIT WAIT WAIT -- you mean our siblings are supposed to SHARE THEIR WEALTH? Well hell, i need to call my brother cause he's been holding out on me. Why didn't no one tell me? [sm=runaway.gif]

um, angel... i secretly adore you and all but....

screw sharing the wealth with the siblings!

The one that doesn't live with me would be here in a half of a heartbeat if he thought he could leech off me. Which he has done in the past. He'd probably want me to buy his herbal supplement for him as well as feed, house, clothe, and hydrate (beer & liquor) him. Not to mention the free maid service, laundry service, and chauffer or free car he would expect.

edited to add...

and yes! I AM the evil big sister, but hardly no where near Ft. Knox.
