Rush would not be the first person whose self-loathing over some hated weakness manifested itself in a marked attitude against the practice and those who engage in it.

Gee, Kirata, when you write like that about the guy...you make him seem almost........human. It looks like we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. You see a tortured soul decrying the darkness he sees within his own tortured soul. I see a bad case of "Do as I say, not as I do".

Oh...just as an aside, I do owe you an apology. For a long time I was referring to you as Kitara...I have no idea why but that was what I saw your name as and it wasn't till I looked closely that I realized my error. I didn't want you to think I was doing so to needle you. It was just something that happens now and then, such as when I walked past a store with a window full of spears, swords and knives and was sure that their sign read "marital arts supplies" instead of "martial arts supplies".

And that said, back to the fun and games.

Stipulating the Beck, Limbaugh, and Obama used drugs - what's the point?

There is only a point with Limbaugh, as has been pointed out on this thread and others.
He repeatedly said all drug abusers should be sent to jail for lengthy terms.
And the whole time he was saying it he was abusing drugs himself.
I've also noticed he didn't volunteer for jail time.

Okay Rule, so you're advocating for revamping the judicial system and want mandatory jail time for drug users providing Rush Limbaugh as an example of "getting away with hypocrisy". You are in favor of the drug enforcement that Limbaugh championed.

Appreciate you clearing that up. Would the law be retroactive to initiate their arrests of Bush and Obama (think they will volunteer for jail?) based upon their documented admission of drug usage; or is this personal for Limbaugh?

This was no extracurricular recreational pursuit such as those he rails against, and a charge of hypocrisy would fail on that count too.

You have no way of knowing this other than Rush's rationalizations.

Many people start taking a drug for pain and continue after the pain no longer exists because they enjoy the effects.

In either case, hypocrisy exists because he never allowed that defense for others who became addicted.

No, what I am in favor of is pointing out that those who trust Limbaugh to give them "the thruth" need to realize he will say whatever incites his audience and raises his ratings.

I don't think anyone should go to jail for drug use...............except Rush.

Which is why I find it so amusing how many on this thread have stood behind Limbaugh's supposed integrity.

Wouldn't someone of integrity have followed his own beliefs and requested the judge to sentence him to prison?

Ahhhhh, NO, and that wasn't even a well constructed 'straw-man'. Anyone with the ability to do so would do the best they could to avoid jail.

If that is truly your goal, it's a wast of time. You have an unrealistic expectation of pragmatism concerning "true believers". I'm sure you, of all people, can appreciate that.

This thread is 11 pages, and I won't represent to have read each and every line; but someone has come out and represented their opinion of anything is based upon their belief of Limbaugh's integrity? I'd feel as sorry for him/her as I do for the 'true believers' of any ilk, who must rationalize and excuse any fact in front of their face instead of having the integrity necessary to say they are wrong.

Again, I'll leave it to those who listen to Limbaugh to say whether he did that or not. In any event, it's has not affect his success or audience; which to Limbaugh and his sponsors is the only concern.

As Rush says below:
"...Limbaugh can afford to live the way he wants [several houses, including the 24,000 sq ft one he lives in, bunch of fine cars & fine cigars]. When we met he was on the verge of signing a new eight-year contract with his syndicator, Premiere Radio Networks. He estimated that it would bring in about $38 million a year. To sweeten the deal, he said he was also getting a nine-figure signing bonus. (A representative from Premiere would not confirm the deal.) “Do you know what bought me all this?” he asked, waving his hand in the general direction of his prosperity. “Not my political ideas. Conservatism didn’t buy this house. First and foremost I’m a businessman. My first goal is to attract the largest possible audience so I can charge confiscatory ad rates. I happen to have great entertainment skills, but that enables me to sell airtime.

Generally, he'll call himself a journalist, until someone points out his mistakes - then he calls himself an entertainer.  Like Beck.

The quote above is from "Rush Limbaugh Is Just Getting Warmed Up", 2008.

On target, thorn. Kind of like Pro wrestlers called themselves "serious athletes" until they were threatened with being held to the same standards. Then they became "sports entertainers".

To the best of my knowledge, Rush has never claimed to be a journalist. So on the subject of making claims, perhaps one or the other of you jolly marksmen will be kind enough to document yours?

tazzygirl -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/30/2009 6:25:39 PM)

Rush is a blow hard, opinionated, racial idiot who wouldnt know how to report the news, let alone keep any bias of his out of it.

He is many things, a journalist isnt one of them... by any stretch of the imagination

I have a lot of respect for the wrestlers, due to the physical skills required.  Though I don't follow the sport...

That was back in the early '90s, IIRC, and I'm not reeeeal inspired to go reconstruct the quotes that dwell in the primordial ooze of teh intarwebz... (can you tell the cold medicine's taking effect??)

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/30/2009 8:33:43 PM)

sorry, Kitten is more entertaining, so since she LOBBIED for fun and joy and Coulter, she GETS it.

Coulter is the technically and genetically proven way white anglo "hetero" Cons can go on the down-lo and deny it to themselves just because the adam's apple and David Bowie cheekbons has a clit in the package her deal.  Her genitalia is like garageband in a macbook: bundled software.

accent on SOFT.

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/30/2009 8:37:34 PM)

OH, KItten, by the way, since we are having fun with categorization of folks ala "Con" or "Cultural Tardo" (I have known conservatives meriting respect and I have known wannabe Limbaughs),

Even Kate Bush had a song with overatures (and unscores) alluding and musically illustrating "Old School" Conservatives.  I should know, it's my third fave song by Kate.

The Fog.

with the creepy Moan-Song Intoning Inquistion Monks that break in every so often to disrupt Kate speaking in German.

Sorry to go off topic.....but if you like Kate, HPH, try putting on earphones, the old school cup earphones are best but earbuds will do in a pinch. put on "The Jig of Life" at about 9.5 with all the lights out and it will take you to new places.

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/30/2009 8:51:04 PM)

Dude, again, we are d'accord.

I have tripped without drugs to Jig of Life (and even Hammer Horror) since '87.  Owned EVERYTHING by Kate since '91.

The only reason I am fucking with you on occasion is so that when I choose to agree with you big time, no-one can accuse me of being a suck-up, or Partisan (which to my mind?  Those words are synonyms).

and right on RE old school phones (which cause less nerve damage and tinnitus than ipod plug-ins, btw)

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/30/2009 9:17:46 PM)

by the way, RE Coulter?

back in 07, some kinky wackster (probably from THIS site) wrote a shortstory in a sexual "Blair Witch" fashion (e.g. idioots believed but no-one else) about how Coulter would pick up low level flunkies and liberal journalists, take them somewhere sleazy or a media studio restroom and then demand that they give her consentual fullfillment of her assrape fantasy and RIP HER HOLE, DON'T EVEN USE YOUR SPIT!  i WANNA FEEL LIKE I'M SHITTING BROKEN GLASS FOR A WEEK!"

It'd be funny if she didn't look like such a repulsive caricature of a Dachau victim.
