Beck and Limbaugh are in the business of getting the public riled up. It's a cynical enterprise that pays well: I'll give them that.

Again you say things just to say them. Can you please give EVIDENCE to support how Beck and Rush "riled" things up here in America?

As the OP admitted, Beck and Limbaugh are two of the most popular political commentators in the country, so... doesn't that make those of you who despise them and their audiences the ones who are actually on the fringe?

[image]http://www.collarchat.com/upfiles/smiley/idea.gif[/image]

Who said I despise them?…I like good entertainers… that is what they are… The recent elections prove that many watch or listen…not for the message but because they are entertaining.

What do you think of people that listened to Sean Penn or Robert Redford for their political views? I’ll bet you pity them in the same way I pity you and them.

Obama's attack on your right to bear arms....

These SOBs will stop at nothing to get guns banned.   We'd better get some conservative Republicans and independents in office before we don't have guns or much of a country.    The nightmare in Germany started with confiscating guns from the public and we all know where that went. it checks out on snopes.com / HR 45 blair holt
(Snopes is just a pair of leftist democrats - mom & pop operation - living in the San Fernando Valley -and even they admit this)
Now 'all Guns' must be listed On your next (2010) tax return! As if we didn’t have enough to get upset about!   If you have a gun, I hope it isn't registered! This bill was introduced on Feb.. 24, 2009, by the Omama staff. BUT . . This bill will only become public knowledge 30 days after the new law becomes effective ! This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act o f 1986. This means that the Finance Committee has20passed this without the Senate voting on it at all. Trust Obama ? ..... You must be kidding !     The full text of the IRS amendment is on the U.S. Senatehomepage,U.S. Senate You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number, SB-2099.| You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do. Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know.| <Text of H.R.45 as Introduced in House: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - U.S.... OpenCongress | Obama's Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if you don't fully comply. It has begun . . . Whatever Obama's secret Master Plan is....this is just the 'tip of the iceberg!' Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Ac t of 2009.| Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar as a 'minor' IRS revision, and, as usual, the 'political' lawmakers did not read this bill before signing and approving it !To find out about this - go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:-It is registered -You are fingerprinted -You supply a current Driver's License -You supply your Social Security # -You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of the irs choosing -Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 - Failure to do so you automatically lose th e right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail. -There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. -They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. In prison. If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many opt ions to read this. It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. Any hunters in your family pas s this along.| This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not.. <Search Results - THOMAS (Library of Congress) :<H.R.45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licen sing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - U.S. Congress - OpenCongress <H.R. 45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (GovTrack.us)

Try going here first.

So far, at least, there's been no activity on HR 45 (which has only one sponsor and no cosponsors) since it was referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security on February 9, 2009.

Amazing, in light of Pelosi saying we should strengthen the laws we have now, not create new ones.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/29/2009 5:35:27 AM)

Yeah, God forbid we should keep tactical nukes out of the hands of good, honest sportsmen who just wish to use them for deer hunting. (An overstatement of extent, but not of kind.) Seriously, deer season is almost upon us, and I'm looking forward to doing a little hunting, but the last thing those beered-up loons need is an Uzi to bring down Bambi.

I've yet to meet a cop who doesn't want automatic, military style guns off the streets. Why? Because those are the men and women who have to stare down the barrels of them the most often. But there do seem to be plenty of tin pot David Koresh types, unstable teens out to kill their classmates, and drug dealers who are pretty damn happy that they can outgun just about any police force they come up against.

Once again tiedtothebed, this just isn't so. As I pointed out to you in a previous post, the Nazis didn't do anything of the sort. The one and only gun confiscation they did was not until 5 years into their regime's tenure, and it only affected Jews, a small minority of the population...everybody else kept their guns.

When you preface your remarks with bullshit like this it tends to make one apprach whatever else you might be saying as if it too were bullshit.

Sanity -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/29/2009 6:21:24 AM)

You might need to take some time and sort through your feelings on this because when you call people fanatics you are openly sending the message that you despise them, and when you publicly offer someone your 'pity' as you just did that's also a sure sign that you despise them.

I guess now would be a good time to show me a dictionary definition of fanatic or pitied where despised was listed as a meaning.

I am willing to bet that those who hate Rush Limbaugh have never really listened to his show at length. They really don't know anything about him except what they have heard from others.

UncleNasty -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/29/2009 8:03:36 AM)

I could only stomach the first page of responses to the OP.

If there is a "divide and conquer" dynamic at work it appears to be working very well. If I go with the assumption that this forum, and these posts, are reflective of the amount of division, opposition and distraction present in the general populace then I can only say "Crap, nobody is really minding the store. We're doomed."

If you really need those definitions, try Bing or Google. They're both pretty good search engines.

And it goes without saying that you can display certain feelings without saying the words that describe such felings. Denying it after the fact doesn't make it any less so, either.

So in other words, you are (once again) completely unable to present a lucid explanation for the condescending opinion that you just blurted out, choosing instead simply to blurt out an equally condescending evasion.

Got it. Just as expected.

Word. A shotgun or bolt action rifle is all you need for hunting, and nobody has any objection to keeping a handgun in the house or the car for self defence.
Anything beyond that, though, and you're probably planning a bank job.

trying to override the bill of rights and take away the right to bear arms (Hitler's first act in Germany after he took power) will leave the citizenry merciless at the hand of the government.

It is sad sad country if our main weapon against government is .45. I was told our weapon is our right to vote, to choose democratic government, and to dispose of it if we dont like it.

Do you honestly believe you have constitutional right to bear arms to protect yourself against government? Like Waco, TX, or Oklahoma, OH, which recent case would you like to quote.

This came from an op-ed piece in the LA Times and has been dutifully spread by conservative bloggers as undisputed fact, and latched on to by Rush's fans.

The only problem is Andrew Klavan, who wrote the article, offered no proof other than his own personal observations from "talking with liberals".

And I'm assuming Rush's ratings demographics would have been available to Mr. Klavan on request, which would  have easily answered the question.

Read it here.

Moonhead -> RE: Glen Beck and rush Limbaugh. (9/29/2009 8:50:47 AM)

There's probably more people who've listened to his show than have got all of their information from reading Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot, true enough.

You might also note this from an NRA member...

FACT: Barack Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.3

FACT: how long will NRA use hunting and sport shooting as excuse. Unless some major genetic mutation happened last few years, i dont think foxes, deers and other animals become so strong and mighty that we need to expand our arsenal

FACT: Barack Obama supports gun owner licensing and gun registration.6
FACT: every law obeying NRA member is scared shitless of licensing his gun that will be used to hunt rabbits every october 1st-15th

FACT: Barack Obama supported a proposal to ban gun stores within 5 miles of a school or park, which would eliminate almost every gun store in America.9
FACT: from now on we should put gun store in the HS cafeterias, to avoid dangerous 5 mile drive from 18+ inexperienced driver. Only the kid without valid school ID should be able to buy a gun, see above fact about gun registration

FACT: Barack Obama voted against a measure to lower the Firearms Owners Identification card age minimum from 21 to 18, a measure designed to assist young people in the military.11
FACT: since they dont get their own gun in the millitary young innocent people are forced to buy their own guns, and with this new measure, they have 3 years of pure torture, waiting to be 21 to obtain their first gun

FACT: Barack Obama supports one-gun-a-month sales restrictions.9
FACT: Every hunter knows that buying only 12 guns a year is restriction that will put them in grave danger when confronted by angry deer.

FACT: Barack Obama supports a ban on inexpensive handguns.9
FACT: inexpensive handguns are must for everycitizen, who wishes to hunt peacefully. We should work together to bring price of handgun to around $50 to make it accessible to every child, every single mother in this country.

FACT: Barack Obama supports mandatory firearm training requirements for all gun owners and a ban on gun ownership for persons under the age of 21.9
FACT: Several studies shows that most of the NRA members are illiterate, and therefor unable to pass the mandatory firearm training. Their lack of education, or common sense, shall not impede with their god given right to own a gun. What Obama needs to do is to reverse the requirements, those who pass the training, shall not be allowed to carry guns, only those who fail to understand the test shall be given gov't vouchers for free ammo.

are there any communities enamored of Rush or Beckums that roar with outrage over taking away any ammo clip rights yet sneer at any roars of outrage over taking away "right to teach evolution in science class" rights?
