Umm...ok, so bush giving them a sound talking too was counter productive but Obama stinking his tongue in Armenigwhatever's ass is going to save the world ? I have news for you, Obama's cult of personality doesn't extend to anyone in the mid-east. His magic tongue will fail.

It happened under Bush's watch for one reason only, our country wouldn't tolerate a third front in the war against Islamic extremism. You have yourselves to blame for that.

What's your expectation?

My expectation is they'll try for what you described above and probably get it. It will be an unmitigated disaster. They'll mandate treatment for all conditions regardless of cost and will likely end pre-existing condition exclusions (without that exclusion it's a welfare program not an insurance policy).

The end result is many businesses will have to drop coverage for their employees because of the massively increased cost and it will put millions of Americans into the "I can't afford to buy insurance" position.

Can you imagine being successful in persuading a "Obama is a honest man" person how the government has sabotaged their health insurance vs the "greedy insurance company" explanation propaganda they have already swallowed hook, line, and sinker ? The number of people that simply can not afford insurance and need a hand out will be massively increased and it will increase the odds they'll support a single payer system (absolutely shitty insurance where you need to get party permission for a life saving procedure is still better than no insurance at all, unless you're registered Republican anyway).

If they weren't such a group of arrogant god-complex jackasses the Democrats would of done it that way in the first place as it would have massively increased the odds of passing a single payer system in the future than their current bills have of passing a single payer system and they wouldn't pay nearly the political price they are going to pay in 2010 (assuming we actually have a widespread uncorrupted election this time around).

These health bills not only need to be killed, they need a proverbial steak driven through their hearts. *Anyone* that votes for them needs to be defeated in their next election regardless of their party affiliation and for Republicans that means a successful primary challenge not replacing a moderate (ie clueless) Republican with an out right Marxist Democrat.
