FDD, the vet called. The horse is dead. Stop beating on it. Yes, some left wingers suggested that anywhere from some to an overwhelming amount of the screaming, crying and rending the garments over BHO was due to racism. And now every time a conservative opens his mouth, he's going to say "Oh...I know you're calling me a racist". Most of us on the left don't call you guys racists. What we do call you we can save for another post.

Oh..and if you read the article, Vidal has switched sides because Obama isn't left wing enough for him. So I guess it's a case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" or just "politics makes strange bedfellows"

Like you, I tend to use the absurd to make a point.

The fact is that some of the most vocal and prolific left leaning posters here on the P&R Collarme boards (TOS will not allow me to state them by name) insist that the opposition to President Obama is based first and foremost on his race. Or didn't you read the Jimmy Carter thread (among many other threads)?

But the real gem here, is if President Obama loses folks like Vidal, how does he ever hope to get re-elected. Will losing such backers embolden Mrs. Clinton or another strong Democrat pull a Ted Kennedy 1980?

I have noticed and disagreed with the idea that racism is the cause of the opposition to president Obama. What I've also noted is that no one on the right of the aisle has even seen fit to comment on my theory: I do not believe that people disagree with Obama because they are racist. I do believe there is a lot of racism used or tolerated because people disagree with Obama. There is tremendous difference there.

I read the whole thing... he hates the right spectrum, he hates Republicans, McCain and Consevatism...so what?

It's obvious that his dissent isn't fueled by racism! That is what sarcasm is all about.

But onto the meat of piece, Vidal still states President Obama has performed "Dreadfully", he said the president has F-ed up healthcare and he states Hillary would be a better President.

It is an unfortunate fact of the US political process: this is all very true, and yet Clinton would have lost to McCain. The choice was never between Clinton and Obama; the choice was between Obama and McCain. We're closer to overcoming race in america than we are to overcoming gender.
