Eternal torture or eternal bliss, the Pharisic types will have nothing to do with it.

They believe that the corporeal life is the only life. You die, you are dead, that is it. I don't completely agree but I understand it.

Also logically they could have some notion of an afterlife way different than the norm, and be acting logically. One could assert that there is a reason for death, which is to purposely seperate the corporeal life from the "after"life. Almost as if we aren't supposed to know about it.

While I can understand the reasoning, I do not completely agree. What indeed would the world be like if the Bible had never been written ? It does not teach true morality, but I believe it does set one on that path. There are truths in there that are profound, but most are so vague it is hard to catch them. Some of it is anectdotal, with a moral to the story in a way.

Enough for now, but suffice it to say if you want me to join your group, you better not tell me I have to kill someone who has not hurt me. Smite the Lord's enemies. Fuck that, from what I hear he could just wipe them out in notime. Plus the fact that supposedly He created them. This simply does not pass muster. This is too fucking illogical for a being that can figure out a whole universe, the solar system and all this shit. And as much as I hate to say it, Judge Judy said "If it doesn't make any sense it is usually not true". I have no argument against that one.

well, I am not allowed to mention "soneone's butt" anymore.

BUTT if we can have eternal torture of PALIN'S butt, on camera, eternal torture takes on a whole new sugary gloss and appeal.

How ever if it is even three minutes of torture of a bony booty that should never be eqauted to a true butt (RE Paris Hilton's) then I am 100% AGAINST IT.

And since this thread involves gays and they are te pre-eminant arbitors of ass-centric culture, I feel democratically free in saying so.  Since my queer friends are VERY picky about which butts they socially deify.

as in Folsom and Castro in SF and Oxford in Sydney.

If God is omniscient doesn't he know our decisions before we make them?  Why would he create people who he knows will make decisions that will lead to misery and suffering?

   What I said originally was "I see no evidence."  You refuted me.  I still see no evidence, since I have not observed the eternal torture you speak of. 

I don't believe the Bible speaks of an unending torture after death.  The eternity that Christ spoke of is always the eternity of this moment.  Are you being tortured right now?  I am not, and I am half-queer, an adultress, and a blasphemer.

LOL.. read the threads sometimes... and yo will see the enemies. And they arent enemies... lol

Smite... again... can mean many things depending on the usage. I can smite the phone from your hand... or you can be smited in battle (and that doesnt mean you have to die.. just lose)

gesh, people are so touchy about what they are told instead of finding out for themselves.

I just read their FAQ. For a nominally Christian church (Baptist), it is interesting to note that none of the Biblical references they cite include a single teaching of Christ in support of their views. (Because without free will you would be a robot incapable of choosing to listen to him. And incapable of changing. You can't always protect children from themselves. No lesson is learned if no mistake is allowed to take place.)

Knowing peoples decisions does not take away their choice.
