Now wait... respect the position.. no problem there. I do NOT have to honor Bush, Obama or anyone. Both sides have enjoyed the "dishonoring" of any president that has been in office since i have been alive. NOW you speak of a lack of honor?

Its earned.. on both sides. Respect should also be earned... and the position of President is earned... its up to the MAN who holds that position to keep that respect.

Its extremely odd the way Liberals call Bush an idiot and a chimp and then become indignant when Conservatives refuseĀ  to respect or honor Barack Obama.

Maybe Republicans should stop electing idiots like Bush and Palin and then there wouldn't be a need for a periodic bitch-slapping.

oh, not so many indignant as you might suppose.

Who, exactly, is getting indignant because conservatives are not "respecting or honoring" Obama? Personally, I'd be happy to settle for you guys not lying about him. At least anyone who ever called Bush a moron or an imbecile was telling the truth.

The Nobel Peace Prize should be earned, too. I'll bet all the past recipients feel somewhat cheapened, regardless of what they say when interviewed.

Obama did not lobby, run, or attempt to gain that award. At this point, to turn down that award, in my opinion, would have been a slap back in the faces of the international community.

They welcomed his message, that displayed a form of faith... and here we are... americans.. complaining because the international arena likes what he is saying.

You've been one of Obama's harshest critics here, Panda, and everything you've said about him has been true enough.

It's not about respect or honor.

Feel free to call Obama an idiot all you like.

Just don't expect people to listen to the socialist destroying America nonsense without it getting thrown back in your face.

well, going from the Bush era -9999999 goodwill to a -50 on the chicken little scale for right wing paranoics who won't talk to other governments but will make bellicose statements at the drop of a hat .........

he has calmed the world down a little, I think.

if it wasn't so stark, it would have never come up.

And your comment about liberals and democrats getting them.....when was the last time a republican wasn't trying out for the lead in dr. strangelove? (and kissinger got one even at that) now what did he do?

cheapens it for some, not everyone.

But I had a feeling you would take umbrage at anything short of impeachment and stuffing all republicans in every orifice.

Well, you have a fair point there, I don't see how those two could possibly feel cheapened.

for most posting here, myself included, we are questioning how he earned such an honor.

You are coming across as being upset because OBAMA won the award. comments about it being a liberal peace prize, the fact that Bush didnt win one, and the post above, all put together makes you sound .. churlish.

You completely misunderstand me, taz, but thats okay. This is a joke, this whole thing is a joke, I'm not taking it as anything but funny. Some of the progressives here seem to have dried up old corn cobs up their privates over it, but not me. The quote I saw that I agree with most is that the Nobel Committee clowned themselves with this particular award... and thats nothing on me.

Do you think Lech Walesa felt cheapened?

Because according to accepted Republican mythology it was actually Uncle Ronnie that ended the Cold War and old Lech had nothing to do with it.

Perhaps we missed your humor because your "funny" posts carry the same "Obama is the worst thing to ever happen to the country" and "The left is so terribly unfair to the right" themes as your serious posts. How can we tell which ones to laugh at? More importantly, how can we tell which ones to take seriously?

How did Obama earn that embarrassment? What did he do to deserve the disrespect, according to you, that both he and the office of President has been given?

If he went lobbying for the honor, i could see your point. We all could. He didnt go looking for it. He didnt ask for it. Yet, he should now be embarrassed?

By the way, I'm still waiting for a reply to this, in case you might just have overlooked it:

One person's "invade" is another person's "liberate". For example, how many American invasions were less than honorable during the last world war? Yours is a political judgment, and so was that of the Nobel Committee.

Excuse me?

Would you care to elaborate on this extraordinary statement?

There is nothg for Obama to be embarassed about....anytime an American is even nominated it is an honor....and one that tends to humble the person....to win one, is quite an accomplishment. He wouldn't be the first to win one based on an ideal. It is never bad for America to be well thought of on the international community but, it has been extremely rare as of late....it is just irritating to those who dislike him for wahtever reason.
