joking with a potential sub turned into quite an interesting thought, so i figure i'd post it here: How would you feel if a potential Dom/Master had you fill out a very detailed application to measure your worth as becoming his property? (think, of it more like a job application than a test)

This wouldn't fly with me. I am not looking for a job. I am looking for a relationship. I would likely have my own application on hand to offer him/her to prove his/her worth as my dominant. Fair is fair after all and I am the one most likely at risk of my life in the hands of a wacko dominant. Oh, and let's also not forget that plenty of people look good on paper, but are worthless in the real world and vice versa. Man, I'm bitchy today! lovingpet

I've gotten these messages a lot - they're not uncommon. I'm looking for a relationship first, not a career, so I politely decline, but frankly, if there are people who see it that way there's nothing wrong with them looking for that; it's just too cold and impersonal for me.

As a person first a sub 2nd. # days of talking over 16 hours kinda let us know we were on the same page as for what we were looking for. I got a job wanted a relationship and so did he. Long after I have talked to someone, and I mean looong after, I have a list of things I ask to be filled out/in. But it is definitely not a job application. Just because I may not have someone in My life, does not mean I would ever put it out there that I was 'hiring'... that's just a really bad situation waiting to happen.

Being told to apply for a position would mean he had failed my test. Like the others, a relationship cannot be determined by an online application. We did it the old fashioned way, we talked and became friends first. And by the way if he had thought of me as a potential slave, as a role, instead of as a unique person whom he wanted to get to know, then I would have realized early he didn't see me, he was looking for some fantasy come to life. And those don't exist.

Sounds like a no fun, short situation for me. But I guess that's just my preference. I always want to know the person first, especially in the seeing them in person and experiencing their energy, attitudes, behaviors and all those processes that make up a person.

Yeah it sounds pretty silly to me. But then again, there are plenty of erotic things that appear silly if you aren't into them. Filling out a "slave application" makes me think of the movie The Secretary, or Exit to Eden (the book, not the crappy movie) or all the erotic stories about "slave training camps", mysterious villas/ islands where girls are "forced" to become slave, yadda yadda. Being objectified, or being treated with cool detachment is a very common kink.

As a dominant female, I find dividing what I want (ideally in one sub) into three "roles", and posting the parameters of such very straightforwardly has gotten me more hits who went on to actually correspond and meet. I want to be friends with people, but if someone wants his primary role to be cleaning house or being beaten, I want to know, and that way I can find someone who can primarily be a bedslave, and that way everyone's happy. I recognize that mileage varies for those of you who are kinked differently. (grin)

~Fast Reply~ Funny, but I was filling out a "Service Resume" for myself just for the hell of it.....just to see what I could think of that I had skills and smarts at. Actually there's quite a bit on it. I remember two different Dominants when I was looking quite some time back asked me "Why do you think I should choose you to be my submissive?" and I just thought it might be worthwhile to write one up to get my thoughts in order on that, just for my own reasons.
