tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (11/21/2009 1:21:42 AM)

And i suppose this is necessary...

http://www.startribune.com/local/17406054.html

And even the ACLU says this isnt... i suppose the atheists here overlooked this one...

http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/zapped

And suppose this was ok too... dated 2002. This isnt a new trend, its ongoing...

http://www.danielpipes.org/430/become-a-muslim-warrior

Do i care that they do? Not really, as long as no child is forced to participate, as is stated in the first article. I do care that christianity is constantly raked over the coals for standing by traditions while others flaunt their religious beliefs in spite of the rulings of our courts and complain loudly that silent moments are against the law.

I think this is something totally different from what I was responding to, don't you? But leaving that aside, are you claiming that none of the lawyers from the ACLU and the Thomas More Law Center who chose to take these cases, and none of the people who brought these matters to their attention, were atheists?

Actually, i was referring to the atheists on these boards. But you knew that. [:D]

Again, where is the atheists outcry against this. There isnt any. And the reason is simple. They arent christian.

False. The actual answer is:

1. I have no problem with anything in that article.

2. I'm aware of your follow up articles and do have issues with what's going on in them but there don't seem to be any fundy Muslims participating in these forums and I don't think there's much of a point in having a discussion between Christians and Atheists on whether Islam is the correct religion.

tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (11/21/2009 2:59:24 PM)

This isnt the first time i have brought up this issue. Nor is it the first time in a debate over christianity. There is no single correct religion for everyone. But while atheists, agnostics, humanists, ect keep their eye on the evil christians of the world (... lol... that always makes me laugh...) there are other religions doing far sneakier things beneath your noses. Using the cover of no muslims posting on the boards (that you know about) is a lame excuse for being blind to the issues you so vehemently argue christians are trying to shove down your throats.

Could you walk me through the process of how a theist comes to that conclusion?

As I write this I'm 59:55 min in to Deliver Us from Evil. Evil Christians are not something to laugh about.

Did you come to that position through faith? It certainly does not resemble reality. As I just told you, I am aware of those articles. So far I've come across exactly one pro Islam poster on this forum, he claimed that all religions engaged in Jihads, I pointed out that was false, mentioned that some religions are actually peaceful and pointed out the religion from which the term pacifism was coined. Then it turned into a contest to see how many people could post "the Amish" simultaneously. I haven't seen him since.

aphotic -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (11/21/2009 5:34:41 PM)

I wish topics like this didn't appear ever. It's just a perspective from which one side bloviates in order to incite some sort of reaction or garner support. Yes, it's philosophical, but the manner in which it's stated seems less than constructive to the human race.

I mean honestly, I have no fucking clue what the answers on the divine and such are; however, I know we should all be able to believe in what we choose without being called a plague -- as long as we don't impress out stamps on absolutely everyone.

And really, wtf? I have no stamp to impress. I mean I do, but it's a wax stamp of a confused face.

On his deathbed, a priest asked Voltaire to denounce Satan, to which he responded, "This is no time to be making new enemies."

For a Theist, it's easy. Religionists are another matter. [:D]

That's what Judaism holds.  Judaism is great for Jews, but as long as others hold to the Ten Commandments, they're cool as well.

As i have often said.. just because he claimed to be religious, his actions proved he was not. This really is hard for you to understand, isnt it.

LOL... now your promoting a universal religion for everyone to follow???

That's a no true Scotsman fallacy, if I've ever heard one.

Thanks, I asked a really stupid question. Sorry, my brains kind of broken at the moment.

A teacher sexually abuses a student. Do you call for the end of all schools? Do you paint all teachers with the same brush stroke? Or do you recognize that this person took advantage of a student, remove the person from the situation, and recognize that the person was just a predator.

So you concede that your last statement is wrong and want to move on to this different topic?

tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (11/21/2009 7:43:09 PM)

Nope. Not at all. I have the ability to see a sick person who happens to fall into a line of work that allows them to carry on that sickness without calling for the death of every person within that line of work.

Im sure that isnt too hard to comprehend.

What are you even talking about here? Seems like this is a red herring fallacy to distract from your previous fallacy.

tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (11/21/2009 7:58:11 PM)

The previous fallacy, in your eyes, being what?

No true scotsman fallacy

tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (11/21/2009 8:31:43 PM)

A teacher abuses a child. No one calls for the end of education.

A parent abuses a child. No one calls for the end of parenthood.

A police officer abuses those he has in custody. No one calls for the end of the police force.

A priest abuses a child. You call for the end of religion.

Each one of these, and far more, carry an expectation that the individual will take care of those they have control over, not abuse them. When someone abuses those expectations, we dont call for the end of that line of work.

Unless its religion.
