I had forgotten about those dirty weapons. Yes, you are right. Disgusting and cowardly tactics in my opinion, they were.

There were a few cases of using siege engines to fire corpses over fortification walls as well, were there not?

Is this Dutch humour?

In those days I doubt Queensbury's rules was the order of the day. These were people who didn't take a backward step and hacked heads off as a matter of course - the alternative was being disgraced and spending eternity in the company of the god of cowardice.

Those were the days eh.

Well - a load of Norwegians had the cheek to try it on in England - something had to be done. Lucky the old dears didn't hoy a bucket of piss over their heads.

who you gonna believe? conspiracy theorisst that base on unfounded science with no citable scientific evidence or your lying fucking eyes, old chap? I think you have your smoking gun and your 'attack of the killer tomatoes' fiasco all tied up, nice and tidy.

Ron

No, no Ron, it was killer apricot pits not tomatoes. Steve went to Mexico to partake of the extract of apricot seeds. Or was it pumpkin?

Ummmm Allah and Yaweh are the same god. The god of Abraham who asked him to sacrifice his son.  It was the division between the son's of Abraham, Isaac (the legitimate son) and Ishmael (the son of adultery) that caused the split between Arabs (who were not yet Muslim) and Jews. The sons of Isaac becoming the Jews and the sons of Ishmael becoming the Arabs.

You need to read the biblical story over again.  Ishmael was not a son of adultery.  Sarah gave her maid to Abraham as a surrogate mother.  Ishmael was not only a legitimate son but also the firstborn and as such had the right to the largest inheritance.  The difference is this.  One can only become a Jew by two different paths, the first is to be born of a Jewish mother, the second is to convert.  The story goes out of its way to point out that Ismael's mother was an egyptian.  Isaac therefore was the Jewish branch of the family, Ishmael, the 'Arab' branch.

I find it interesting that thousands of years later, the Arabs have all the oil and the Israelis have none.  Seems the firstborn got the greater inheritance after all.

Then why do they have different names? Duh! (I know that this question is not fair, but it is legitimate nevertheless.)

YVHV simply means "I Exist"  there is no 'name' and Allah simply means 'God'  and is not a 'name'.

Also, how can Ivan, Juan, and John be the same name??  Different languages would be my guess.  Duh!

What your definition entails is a lable. being a christian, jew, muslim, ect, isnt about wearing a lable. For example, christians believe in following the 10 commandments. Pretty clear cut rules there. I dont recall wiggle room in most, if any of them. I can proclaim i am born again, a christian, convince others through words that i have given my life over to the Lord.... yet, if my actions speak otherwise, am i telling the truth? And here we come to another crux... truth. [:D]

All the Jews who follow the 10 commandments would hardly want to be called good christians.  Although I understand what you are trying to say:  "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.  You will know them by their fruits." (Mt 7:15-16)  "Not every one who says to mr 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the kingdom of heaven byt he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (Mt. 7:21)

Clearly Jesus is saying a lot of people are and will continue to be hypocrits.  It would seem more plausible to define a follower of Jesus to simply follow the 'new' commandments of "So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets." and "Love your neighbor as yourselves"

So it doesn't matter what lable a person puts on themselves, Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Atheist, what matters is what fruit they bear.  Throw all of religion away!  It is no different today than when Jesus walked the earth.  Religion today seems to be all talk and no action.  Why all this arguement?  Does it matter if you believe in a Diety and spread hatred and discord?  Does it matter if you reject the idea of a Diety if you feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick?  What would happen if any of us spent more time helping others?

Hi eyes

you have my point a bit backwards.

not everyone who follows the ten commandments will consider.. or be.. a christian. however, according to the basic tenants of christianity, you cannot break those commandments.

As to your questions... it doesnt matter... lol. i enjoy yanking these boys chains. [:D]

See, I take a bit of an issue with the 10 Commandments thingy.  If Christiams can't break those commandments and there is no wiggle room then why to the VAST majority of "Christians" worship on the Sun God's day and break the sabbath each and every week?  Sounds like Constantine found some wiggle room after all!

You are right, I haven't read Genesis in ages. I think what I was choosing to remember  was the part when Sarah jealously asked Abraham to drive Hagar and Ishmael out into the wilderness. I looked it up though, and that happened 14 years after Ishmael was born and was only after God restored Sarah's fertility allowing her to bare Isaac. Thanks for the correction. Even if one only looks at it as folk lore, it is an interesting perspective on the turmoil in the Mid East.

There's a rather substantial problem with only defining the "twue Christians" as Christians. How does one figure out which ones are the twue ones? There are thousands of different denominations of Christianity with vastly different theories on every aspect of Christianity, which one is the right one?  What should the members of all the other denominations be called?

tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (12/1/2009 6:23:24 PM)

Not on every aspect. Perhaps you should research more.

I'm curious, I'll indulge in this side track for a moment, which aspect of Christianity is universal?

tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (12/1/2009 6:43:53 PM)

Im sorry. You will have to do your own homework on this one. There are many aspects that are universal. Its up to you to discover which ones.

The only one I can think of is the belief in Christ.

Naw, that's ok. It sounds too much like homework, and I have enough of that to keep me busy. Maybe after finals are over.

Some believe he was the son of god, some believe he was god incarnate, some believe he was a human being who was no more divine or supernatural than the rest of us. There are even Christians who think that Jesus was mentally ill.

tazzygirl -> RE: Believer(s) of god are plague to this world. (12/1/2009 7:45:51 PM)

Are you discussing people who believe that, or religions who believe that? If its the later, your source for that information would be a delightful read.
