Post the fucking link or stop talking about something we have no knowledge of!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Impatient much? You know, arguing with a series of my posts that are already posted is a bit silly, don't you think?

I've gotten yelled at walking past constructions sites, can I claim PTSD now?

Yeah, if I claimed PTSD everytime I got yelled at, I'd have to be in a rubber room, rocking back and forth now.

Loki...i was throw out of bed, tossed into furniture and ended up hospitalized with a concussion because i was married to a wonderful man who had severe PTSD.

If there was an obvious trigger, trust me...i would have gotten the fuck out of the way!!!

The fact about PTSD is the trigger id very real to the victim...and he or she is the one that matters.

I didn't.  I said you sounded like.  I did not speculate on what your motives were.

Actually, you did. When you said "you sounded like (insert insult here) who (insert action here)" you are speculating both as to who I am and what drives me to post.

You see the part where you say "you sound like a..." is where you are speculating on what I am. The part where you say "who whine about all Dommes being rude, or moneygrubbers, or about some other perceived slight," you are speculating about why I am posting what I am posting.

I just corrected you.

Once again, holly, we're not talking about triggers here. We're talking about the EVENT which CAUSED the PTSD in the first place, *not*....I repeat *not* what "triggers" an episode later, once the PTSD is manifested.

You're still mis-reading. The van thing wasn't the trigger. It was the the "traumatic event" that supposedly gave her PTSD.

mis reading what? That comment was made before you posted the link

It doesn't matter. I have said repeatedly what I am talking about and it is not a 'trigger.' Link or no link, I have said I am talking about the 'traumatic event' which caused her PTSD, not a 'trigger.'

it is not up to you to determine what is or is not a trigger. Who in the hell do you think you are?

The smell of a rose can bring recall of a funeral which can bring recall of someone who attended said funeral who assaulted the victim in childhood and result in a flashback.

That is the way it works. The mind processes and travels that fast.

No, you simply disagreed with me.  Simply asserting that you are right does not constitute an effective argument.  I do concede that you asserted your correctness at length, though, and if I was impressed by a preponderance of words it would have been effective.

my problem is you are coming across as a sexist ass and i really do not want to take your word for anything. Hence the request for the link.

I'm going to re-state this for you one more time, as clearly as I can.

The GIRL in the ARTICLE did not indicate that the being yelled at triggered a flashback. She said it was the TRAUMATIC EVENT that gave her PTSD.

Is that clear enough yet? A trigger is something that brings back the memory or flashback of the original trauma. The van incident *WAS* the original trauma.

Good, I am a sexist ass. That has no bearing on my word, however.

Actually Loki is right, the men yelling at her caused the trauma, the trigger come after the event. According to the article, she said "While pulling security detail for an Army convoy stuck in gridlocked traffic, Peacock's vehicle came alongside a van full of Iraqi men who "began shouting that they were going to kill us,"

that was the event that caused the PTSD....now anything that causes her to relive that afterward would be a trigger.

I'm not simply asserting that I am right, I am flatly telling you what I am. Since I'm not a sub, I can't possibly fall into the categories you set forth. So, by default, you're wrong.

and a good thing i didn't. You failed to mention while in the convoy a group if Iraq's pulled up and began screaming they were going to kill her. You failed to mention she had her finger on the trigger and was a hairsbreath away from firing.

Now...you are SURPRISED that a van load of men who stopped and screamed at her brought on a PTSD episode? You are actually surprised at that?

You must be kidding.

Actually I am a bit surprised. If I were in a war, I would probably expect the enemy to be yelling at us. After all, we are trying to kill each other right. Now I have never been to Iraq, but I have read and seen enough to know that not everyone over there likes us.

And men have, do and will face far, FAR worse than that every day over there. Which means, if yelling at her fucked her up that badly, she had NO BUSINESS over there to begin with.

Not an episode, it gave her PTSD. There was only one van, not two. The ONE incident over there gave her the PTSD, she's not indicated being yelled at a second time being a trigger to remember the first time.

DesFIP -> RE: Who would have thought -- war is 'hard' (10/17/2009 5:14:29 AM)

Loki, the article talked about specific problems. Such as the nearly 40% sexual harassment rates at the service academies, the fact that a married female soldier is 3 times more likely not to have her spouse wait for her deployment to end, to the fact that they're bleeding all over their clothes for five days out of 28 because the commanders will not order tampons and pads. Me, I would organize a raid on the commander's closet to turn into rags to use. That is just deliberately dirty pool, trying to force the women out by refusing to order medical supplies.

And I don't understand why you think PTSD is supposedly. It isn't a joke, if you had ever suffered flashbacks you would understand how dangerous they are. The first time I had one I was behind the wheel of a car. It's a miracle I managed not to kill myself or someone else.
