I'm all for women doing what job they want -- if and ONLY if they meet *ALL* the physical requirements that their male counterparts do

Actually, in my opinion, they're never going to be 'just fine' because they will never be expected to meet the same requirements. The requirements thing was simply a statement of how they 'might' be 'just fine.' Unfortunately, the requirements thing will never change. Ergo, they'll never be 'just fine.'

Sorry...you are continuing to contradict yourself.

Well, since I find most women to be walking contradictions, I guess we're even.

Plus, what I've said isn't a contradiction. I've already stated I don't feel our nation's women belong in combat, and I've shown why. I've also imparted the respect I have for the *real* female warriors of other nations who do not dumb down training so that it's "easier" for their women.

I've then drawn the correlation that our nation could do the same and that 'might' make it okay for our women to be in combat, but since our nation will not ever do that, then our women will never be "ok" for combat.

There is no contradiction. You can try to imagine one, and I know you will. So have fun with that.

I'm fully aware that you're going to hear what you want to hear regardless of my attempts to educate you, so have fun imagining what you like. I've already explained my position as well as the basis for it. Like it or don't. I don't care.

I find it fascinating that American soldiers ought to be excused for raping fellow soldiers due to uncontrollable urges. Of my nearly 100 Israeli cousins, all of whom have done their army service except for two medical excuses, none of the women have had to deal with that and none of the men have committed such a crime.

So why is it again that American soldiers can't control themselves but other soldiers can?

here ya go Celeste. This answer was a lulu .....

quote:

The only two things that disturb me in this article are the comments about sexual assault (that was always a complaint of mine as they integrated an all men's club. I grow weary of the demand to suppress the natural instincts of men while we seemingly expand the virtues and privilege of women.) Now I'm not advocating misbehavior, but I don't believe this issue is as simple as MEN must learn to control themselves. Anyone ever serving in an extended combat environment can tell you the multiple anxieties associated with deployment.
