I'm glad it appears that abortion is suitable material for humour like this, there isnt enough joy in the world after all.

Especially at an abortion clinic.

Not to worry though, the pain fades after the first forty or so years I understand.

If the ' government option ' becomes law, federal bureaucrats will know of every procedure that you plan to have or have had. This isn't much different in my mind. I don't like it either way, but the hand writing is on the wall for all of us.
This has to be one of the lamest arguments against a public option I have ever read......really Servant can't your side do better than this?

He's trying to infuse his partisan points into everything, mike. Nothing new here...

No, what's troubling is that it's hard to tell whether he's pretending not to see the difference between the Oklahoma abortion statistics law and legitimate medical records, or if he's truly oblivious to it.

Either way, it sucks.

Do you really think that your medical records will be kept private once the government starts paying the bills.? They will have access to everything you do. They will be the ones deciding who gets paid for what. Of course they will know.

So, servant, how do you feel about the personal history of abortion patients being plastered all over a "special" website?

I think it's rather unlikely they'll be posting our medical records on the internet, though. If you have some rational reason to suspect that they will, I'd sure like to hear it.

The government could care less who got an abortion, who got viagra, or who got darvocet.  Gesh, talk about making a mountain out of nothing.

This bill was not for research, it was because they got turned down over one bill and pushed this one instead.

quote:

Last month, the organization used the same argument to successfully strike down a 2008 law that would have required women seeking abortions to have an ultrasound within an hour of the proceedings and require doctors to describe the picture to their patients in great detail -- down to the numbers of finger and toes.

This is all created to make women seeking an elective procedure "uncomfortable".  When i spoke to an OB/GYN friend, her comment was..."watch, D&Cs will be on the rise."

There's that. It's also to make doctors think twice before doing the procedure. It's pure intimidation, frankly, and the two clowns that originated this "law" need their nutsacks stomped on .

Its an easy out for those Dr's who dont want too, and now wont have too.  For those who believe its a woman's right, and privacy is paramount... well... geee.... this town is close enough to that town.... and you look to be about 10 years younger.... and.. heck... since your a waitress and a housewife, we can double your income...

  ways around everything

No offence, but, take off the rose colored glasses.  They know already.

Well hypocrite, show me exactly where I made fun of abortion on this thread.
And where I was the only one to say something snarky or humorous.

I'll wait.

you'll have to wait a long time then, 'cause its 2am here and I'm going to bed and not playing a silly game (well, not on here anyway) just to establish that sarcasm, like irony, is a concept unfamilar on your side of the pond

It's utterly sickening how women's rights get kidnapped by cynical politicians in need of wedge issues -

While yes this does target women most of all it transcends 'women' and 'men' rights - it effects rights in general and setting bad precedence.

Again, if there were a proposal for a web site to display the same information about men having their prostates removed, what do you believe the chances of that passing would be?

I would agree with you if it weren't for the fact that abortion rights have been consistently hijacked and threatened by politicians wanting to distract the electorate from larger issues because it is such a conveniently divisive subject, and by an ignorant, superstitious and bigotted public who thinks that personal medical decisions concern society as a whole.

No, this is about women's rights to make the right decision for themselves, in the privacy of the consultation room, and in the company of their chosen healthcare professional. It's not about everybody's rights, because men's medical decisions never create the public polemic that abortion creates.

Prostate surgery would be needed to save a life. An abortion would be just the opposite.

Not ALL abortions are needed to simply terminate a life.  another fallacy propogated by those who wish to once again tell women what they can do or cant do with their own bodies.
