What state is going to opt out and put its constituents at a disadvantage relative to the rest of the country on premiums while their tax dollars subsidize other states? Insults? Just in the grand tradition of Churchill.

Which seems to lead to an actual move toward healthcare reform. No one wants their state to pay into something they won't get anything out of. Sooo...bring in public option because not doing so just gives insurance companies a whole lot of money rather than creating actual competition. Did anybody else see that the anti-trust exception for insurance companies may be removed?

A public option.....and to think all it took was representatives with half a brain to come up with this.....sheesh,I wonder what they could do with a full deck? typo....ooops,my bad.

There is already a thread on the Chicago thug tactics of the Administrtation wrt to the anti-trust exemption, yes.

But, in a situation when the "public option" already is a compromise -- we've already backed down from single-payer to get to the "public option" level -- this is a further compromise that is both unwise and unnecessary. ("Opt-out" compromise: a bad idea for Florida)

Sometimes politics becomes the art of the possible rather than trying and failing to achieve the ideal.Its a step in the right direction .....after so many years where no such step was possible.
