more smoke and mirrors. If the Dems opposed to a public option have half a brain (which is questionable, since they are Dems to start with) they'll see through it.

The premiums under the public option will be subsidized by tax revenues. What state is going to opt out and put its constituents at a disadvantage relative to the rest of the country on premiums while their tax dollars subsidize other states?

Insults? Just in the grand tradition of Churchill.

Which seems to lead to an actual move toward healthcare reform. No one wants their state to pay into something they won't get anything out of. Sooo...bring in public option because not doing so just gives insurance companies a whole lot of money rather than creating actual competition.

Did anybody else see that the anti-trust exception for insurance companies may be removed?

In other words this is proposed legislation which just might benifit the citizens of this great Country.....imagine that!
A public option.....and to think all it took was representatives with half a brain to come up with this.....sheesh,I wonder what they could do with a full deck?
typo....ooops,my bad.

No, its a move toward government control, which is not reform, its a power grab.

There is already a thread on the Chicago thug tactics of the Administrtation wrt to the anti-trust exemption, yes.

This nicely summarizes my feelings on this, that the opt out is a sell out:

Under the Schumer/Carper plan, a vigorous public option would be included in the final bill, but individual states themselves would have an "option:" to "opt out" of the federal scheme. But, in a situation when the "public option" already is a compromise -- we've already backed down from single-payer to get to the "public option" level -- this is a further compromise that is both unwise and unnecessary.

("Opt-out" compromise: a bad idea for Florida)

Sometimes politics becomes the art of the possible rather than trying and failing to achieve the ideal. Its a step in the right direction .....after so many years where no such step was possible.

Then we are going to be at the mercy of each state legislature to decide whether to opt out.  And guess where those insurance company lobbying dollars are going to start flowing?

Why depend on me to enlighten you about George Soros and his single handed manipulation of American political causes? Especially when we both know you would never be happy with any of the links I may present anyway.

Google him yourself, and pay special attention to the causes he funnels his billions into.

You mean, of course,  vowing to remove Bush from office back in the 2004 campaign.

When he became the new conservative boogeyman.

Now show me where he has made donations to enhance his profits like those of the insurance industry and their lobbies.
