flcouple2009 -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/2/2009 8:01:25 AM)

There was a case a few years ago where we lived on the East Coast of FL.  He was a friend of someone I've worked with for a long time.  He was in his bathroom, reading a nudie magazine and masturbating.  The neighbor kid, climbed the tree in "his yard", looked down through "his window" and saw him.  The kid then went and told his Dad, they called the police, and the cops came and arrested him.  The DA made a point that because he could be seen (only after the kid climbed the tree next to the house and peeped into the window) that he wanted to be seen.  His lawyer finally worked a plea deal to some small charge to keep him out of court.  The DA was trying to hang him to the wall.

Not to mention the time of day. Who the heck thinks a mom and kid are going to be walking in in front of their yard at 5:30 AM!!!

Oh come on... the guy was flashing...get curtains and use them or wear clothes. What if you were walking down the street with your young daughters...do you want the neighbors naked in the windows with their wangers pointing?

You talk one way here but a different way, I'll bet, if it were on your block...I sure would have a talk with him before I called the police but I don't blame the lady for being afraid for her children.

But she wasn't walking down the street - she was marching right through his front yard, taking a shortcut across his property. Personally, I seldom wear clothes around my house in daylight, and if anyone cutting across my property happens to notice this and take offense, that's their problem, not mine. Go tramp around in someone else's yard, and spare me the self-righteous histrionics.

I sleep with clothes.  Drinking hot coffee nude is not a good idea for me- not when I am waking up.  lol

We just do not know all the facts...Panda said there was reason to believe by the police that the man knowingly drew attention to himself. Far all we know he could have had his hands cupped to the window looking at them before he flashed or even gestured in some way. I always love the way these type stories are presented in the most provocative way...and the people that condemn the police without knowing all the facts.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it illegal to go around looking into people's windows?
I think they call people who do that "voyeurs."

Oh, I don't think this was the most provocative way to present the story. "Man arrested for exposing his penis to small child" would be a more accurate headline.

You're right that we don't have all the facts. Given the time of day, I find it plausible that the man couldn't see the people outside and didn't realize he was exposing himself to them. But I also know that the cops would not have arrested him and the prosecutor would not have charged him unless they had reason to believe he was being a perv. A lot of people reading this story seem to be missing that angle. And the misleading headline contributes to that.

School Busses Don't Run at 530 In The Morning

Actually, some of them do.  I used to catch the bus right about that time in high school.  I lived right outside of a national park in the mountains, and it was a couple of hours on the school bus to come down off the mountain to go to school.  They had elementary schools in the mountains, but no high schools.

Was that the case here?  I have no idea.  But I would hesitate to make a blanket statement that the woman was in any way derelict in her duties as "guardian" of the child by being out of the house at 5:30 in the morning.

And now, with my oldest in high school, she has a before-school class that starts early enough for us to leave the house at 6:25 in the morning, and we live close to the school, or we would be leaving even earlier than that.

Standing at the cabinet staring at the coffee maker would not be him deliberately exposing himself. Pressing himself up against the window, and then when they moved on, moving to the next window to do it again is deliberate exposure.

Of course what were they doing in his yard, looking in his window anyway?

kdsub -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/2/2009 10:43:17 AM)

He did just that?...
He first exposed himself in the kitchen window then;

Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Mary Ann Jennings said the woman claimed Williamson then moved and exposed himself again through a large front window.

Reply after continuing read thru, with quoted text for emphasis

None of the groups -- general individuals, cops, prosecutors -- gets a free pass from me on this . . . . All have been demonstrated time & again to do the wrong thing . . . . More details are clearly necessary to know what 'really' happened . . . . . Too many 'ifs' . . . . . .

The following story is all too common . . . . .

Election year?

Most communities have public decency laws. It would be wise for people to brush up on the laws in their own communities.

Thanks, tazzy!

Tho' it's still a murky pic . . . . & the cops / prosecutors don't have to reveal crucial details until the discovery process, right before trial (if it goes there, most prosecutions don't) . . . . . .

CalifChick -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/2/2009 3:03:55 PM)

First it was 5:30 in the morning, and now it's changed to 8:30 in the morning?  Okayyyyyyyyyyyy.

That is a HUGE discrepency.

tazzygirl -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/2/2009 3:07:44 PM)

The part that bothers me is them saying his house is close to a kids bus stop.... umm... changes a whole lot for me.

devilishpixie -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/2/2009 3:09:24 PM)

Especially if the accurate time of the incident was 8:30 am.

tazzygirl -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/2/2009 3:12:48 PM)

Buses can be early... as early as 5 am... and as late as nine or 10 for pre-school. Doesnt matter what the time was. Kids hang out at bus stops, even on weekends. Its like having your house next to the park where the slides and swings are... as adults, we do have a certain amount of responsibility.

This case, in my opinion, needs to be watched.

Termyn8or -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/2/2009 5:03:55 PM)

OK, this case needs to be watched, but watched how ? Seems strange on a forum like this that everyone seems to temporarily adopt such a Puritanical view. I am not saying you embrace it or have taken it to heart, but many seem to be seeing things from that angle, even if on an ad hoc basis.

To presume that anything should happen to anyone in this case is to presoppose the Puritanical view, that which was held against folks like us for a long time. The very best I can say is that level of objectivity, if it is extant here, is admirable. But I am not jumping to that conclusion.

The fact of the matter is that if anyone thinks anything should happen to anyone is saying that seeing the human body naked is wrong. A crime almost, and compunded by the fact that a youngin saw it. What about all the sculptures and stuff in museums, many things in life, plus the fact that they have probably already seen it, I simply don't see where the crime is here.

Was it right ? No, but it does not meet the major criterium of any crime. Being the younin's guardian, I would probably notice this, you know a naked guy and just not react at all. Continue on our walk. Later, sans the kid I would probably walk up to the guy's door and kindly ask him to cover up, as he is visible to all. Just a towel would do. Women on the other hand...... that is a whole different subject whether people want to admit it or not. The way most people think Women are like prey. This changes the balance of things and there is no denying it.

However, I completely agree that the guy needs a talking to, and to just try to be a cooperative neighbor and grab a towel. Simple matter, while others want to make a federal case out of it.

Does a Puritan have the right to raise their own as they see fit ? Certainly. Should they be accomodatred in open society ? As much as any other. Should this guy get a towel in the morning ? Yes. Should we bend over backwards for these type of people ? As much as anyone else.

In that perspective what do you think now ? Should we shield the youngins from everything ? Now forget the museums, and don't forget about admakers and such. Marketing school will teach you if you get into a good one, the phallic symbol is a very strong allusion. Boobies work too, but must be disguised a different way.

So something overt like this with no harm intrended is OK, but using the power of sexual psychology to get people to buy what they don't want or need and even may be harmful to them is OK. How else am I to read this ? Maybe many don't know these things about marketing, maybe I am really crazy, but this is my logic at this point in time.

The first thing I want to know before any action is taken against anyone is one simple question. Who was harmed ?

We have to take that into consideration or we are as bad as those who attempt to oppress people who have alternative lifestyles. I won't let my boys go naked near the girls, and now because I said so, you must oblige me.

Hey Lady, how about walking down a different street ? This is my street, here's my deed. I have also been here longer than you. Now you come and I have to change. Bullshit.

The other side people. Consider it.
