Sanity -> RE: Uncivil War: Conservatives to challenge a dozen GOP candidates (11/5/2009 8:57:41 PM)

If someone campaigns for the Republican, the Democrat, or the Independent - so what. Its SOP, you come in and try to help out who you think is the better person. Whats odd to me is that you hate her coming there, you're admitting that she makes a positive difference and that people like her. She's not the kiss of death... which that is a contradiction of what a lot of Progressives would like people to believe.

But her or Obama was telling New Yorkers who was godly and who is unclean, there is no practical difference. To smear her as Stalinist because you disagree with her politically is extreme.

Campaigning is fine. If that's all she did, fair game.

Obama didn't come in and say "Your candidate isn't the right kind of Democrat--you have to take this one instead." He certainly would have had ground--Owens is a newcomer and an Independent. Instead, local Democrats made their choice, and Obama supported it.

He didn't campaign by lying about the Republican having connections to ACORN either, or the many other bizarre attacks on the party's choice.

It's a large difference.

Separate issue, btw, but Obama's campaigning helped no one, here or in NJ or VA. Voters decided races on local issues--left between Hoffmann and Owens, that left Owens.

Scozzafava was a supporter of partial-birth abortion and massive government spending programs. She was less Republican than John McCain, and Republicans remember how well he worked out.

She was the candidate local leaders of all eleven counties chose.

This is a local election. We get to choose.

That nasty inconvenience of a Constitution says so. Even if Palin doesn't like our candidate.

We get to choose.

"You" didnt choose Scazzafava either, backroom dealings amongst a dozen or so pols did. If "you" want to choose then hold a primary, like normal districts.

Wrong.

You are obviously unfamiliar with both the district and the circumstances.

As I've already explained, campaigning is fine. This was steamrolling local choice and replacing it with an outsider's national agenda because she didn't like the locals social stances.

Don't take my word for it. Ask the angry Republicans who just elected a Democrat.

Since Stalin was a leftist responsible for the cold blooded murder of over sixty million people, I'd have to agree with you.

The irony is thick.

Stalin was a leftie? And there was me thinking he was an autocratic control freak who leaned to the right.

Sanity -> RE: Uncivil War: Conservatives to challenge a dozen GOP candidates (11/6/2009 6:25:09 AM)

You were truly unaware that socialists and communists such as Stalin espouse leftists ideals?

Amazing. What are they teaching in schools these days. Knitting?

The government takeover of industries in WWII wasn't socialist?

Or the freezing of wages? Or rationing?

No, no and no.

Another well thought, well researched response to educate us all.

Bravo Willbeur!

How do you feel about all the heavy campaigning and fund raisers that Obama does on the behalf of his local favorites?

How did you feel about it when Bush did the same?

Bravo, Drool.

Nonsense. Learn the definition of socialism. The move toward socialism is not close to 70 years old.

Socialism -- n.

Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

I'm not the one complaining about people giving speeches or attending fundraisers, I'm alright with that all around.

very good. Now where was there OWNERSHIP of businesses by the government in mobilization, wage controls or rationing?

Mainly that the Soviet union ceased to much resemble anything socialistic when the Bolsheviks took control and purged all of the other factions. Just because an autocrat calls himself a communist doesn't make him one, I'm afraid.

mnottertail -> RE: Uncivil War: Conservatives to challenge a dozen GOP candidates (11/6/2009 9:47:12 AM)

As I read several documents that claim this or that is 'leftist ideals' I find that the majority of them are rubbish that is neo-cons telling us what 'leftist ideals' are, and just as convincingly, leaving stalin out of leftist ideals, because right off the bat, he was not for healthcare as a right, he was for pogroms and purges.

But it is a laughable idea that leftist is somehow treachery and rightist (no matter the country) is portrayed as america, mom and apple pie.

blathering crock of shit, it is.

Ron

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr <<<<<<<<<< outta here.

Does this mean there is an "Uncivil War" brewing on the other side too?

The election may be over, but the political ads aren't. The governor is now taking to the air waves to convince New Yorkers he deserves to stay in office.

Paterson, whose popularity currently hovers in the 20 percent range, was seriously wounded when Obama let it be known he didn't want Paterson to run because Republicans like Rudy Giuliani consistently beat him in the polls. But Obama's recent lack of success in backing local candidates, including New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, has empowered Paterson.

"The President went to New Jersey five times for Corzine and wasn't able to turn that around, so I think here in New York, New Yorkers know everything is local," said Lynch.

Not really. Democrats are used to a bunch of infighting and such. Republicans are far more used to reasonable, ordered and everyone stepping on the same foot at the same time. As for the other side, I quote Will Rodgers who said "I belong to no organized political party. I'm a democrat."

The 'blue dogs' and more liberal in your party are indeed having their own civil war. You guys should worry about your own back yard. The blue dogs will be balking at any further cap and trade votes. The votes are not there for health care and they can't agree on what to do in Afganistan.

The Democrats are used to it. The problems with the internal bickering has long been a problem wtih getting things done. Now, all I can say to the republicans is: Welcome to our world.
