Despite heavy campaigning and fund raising efforts by Barack Obama, Republicans are sweeping the major elections in Virginia and New Jersey tonight. Of course the Democrat spin will be something along the line of, "that didn't hurt". But it did hurt. There is so much wrong with this administration and this party, I don't know where to start. Corrupt and racist cabinet officials and czars, broken promises about openness in government, missteps handling the economy, government takeovers of private business and a wrecking of the dollar... where is the work towards the balanced budget. Where is there evidence of movement towards any of the lofty promises that were made? Especially that his administration was going to be post racial and bipartisan? What a sad, sick joke that turned out to be. Endless promises, empty words. Blue Dogs are going to be looking over their shoulders and Obama is looking very weak. Fired up? Sorry Chief, not tonight...

If New Jersey boots out Corzine tonight, and it looks like they will, It won't be just the bluedog democrats who will be looking over their shoulder. All democrats and some moderate republicans will be doing the same thing. The spin from the left will make my day tomorrow morning.

It doesn't matter who you put in to office because nothing will get done for the greater good of the people. Instead, there will be a continuum of corruption and representation towards the corporations and interest groups. In short, we're beating a [sm=beatdeadhorse.gif] going back and forth between republicans and democrats .

He never has anything good to say about HIS guys... but if he makes the people he doesn't like out to be villains then... then his guys must be winners, right?

ORIGINAL: Arrogance Let's not give Sanity all the credit. That has been the right wing strategy since the beginning. And it seems to have worked in these cases. But I still stand by the prediction I made months ago. In '10 the republicans will gain some seats but not get a majority and in '12 (barring an incredibly unforeseen event that is disgusting and stupid like...oh....trying to blow an undercover cop in a public men's room) Obama gets another four years. So let those who want to crow about this. It reminds me of an NFL player doing a victory dance in the endzone when his team is down 47-7 in the fourth quarter.

These two elections did one thing. The voters are sending the current administration a message telling them to slow down. We don't like the direction we are taking. If the democrats don't pay attention it will be 1994 all over again.

Even if you succeed in hijacking this thread and changing the subject over to the messenger, as you normally try to do... My guesstimate is that all the minor issues will have little relevance in next presidential election. If the economy turns around and starts booming and the situation in the Middle East is at all improved over the Bush era, President Obama should have an easy sail to a second term. If we have a "double dip" recession (i.e. another crash) and Iraq collapses and/or we don't withdraw and the Afghanistan situation becomes a debacle, then I don't think any "success" in a couple of domestic issues or partisanship or bipartisanship will make any difference.

Thats a huge part of the problem. Everyone's expectations of Obama were a mile high but what he's actually delivering is bubbling up from the sewers. I personally (against my better judgement) held out a glimmer of hope that Obama meant what he said about balanced budgets, but my suspicions were confirmed almost immediately upon his taking office. quote: ORIGINAL: gift4mistress I actually agree with spinner. Virginia has been a historically Republican state and Jon Corzine was an unpopular governor nearly from the start of his term. Yeah, I know, "Didn't hurt." [:D] Nah, its pretty big. Obama won heavy victories in both states just last year and now the voters have turned on him - this is going to cause a cold shadow to hang over the Blue Dogs. Its going to put question marks over eveybodys heads.

I see this as more of an anti incumbent, balance the scales vote, than an anti Obama vote.
