As an aside.......being a mental health professional does not make a person perfect at analyzing, or even recognizing, their own problems. I saw a perfect example of this several weeks ago.

A local psychiatrist placed an order with us......we always have our customers proof every order prior to our finishing it. He had made a mistake, that was not obvious, and expected us to redo the order for free. Normally I would work something out with a customer regardless of the fact that it was their error. However, given that we have redone every single order this man has ever placed, all due to his mistakes, and the attitude he was giving me, I decided that he was more trouble than he is worth. I did not offer to redo them free this time. He calmed down, said it was not my error but his, paid for his product, then exploded. He almost walked through a plate glass door. He stood right outside my office window screaming obscenities and punching his car with his fist. All for an error he made on a $150.00 order. While he was punching an Audi TT and screaming.

This a Ph D, mental health professional.

I doubt he feels he has any problems either. But I sure as hell am glad I am not his wife or child.

I cannot imagine how he would deal with a really stressful life issue.

I don't see any posts where anyone stated that being a mental health professional made this guy or any others in that field more capable of analyzing or recognizing their own problems. I did however state that if he did have issues then he would know where to go for help.

Are you stating that because a person is mad at themselves and curses or hits an inanimate object that they have mental issues that they apparently don't recognize? Because if that is the case..then every person I've ever know to include myself needs to see a shrink. There is not a person I know that has not stubbed their toe or gotten a finger smashed in a door during cold weather that did not jump up and down cursing and hit or slap at the nearest in animate object they could find. I find these to be appropriate responses to such things because they hurt no one else, and people do need outlets of some form.

2 soldiers were killed and 2 others injured from our State of Wisconsin. This was an awful day for our military and the families of those killed and injured.

My prayers for the victims and all their families and friends.

Kudos to brave lady who brought the gunman down. I hope she (and all of the wounded, of course) makes a full recovery.

I have an honorary niece who lives there with her military husband. Both are okay (niether was anywhere near the shooting, it turns out), thank the Lord.

There is going to be a lot of high running emotions over this. The best most of us can do is keep an open mind and let the system play out.

Unfortunately, we just got word that one of the killed was someone that MP had worked with while stationed in GA. They had been instructors at the same school.

I am so sorry to hear of those who were killed or wounded. As we can see from the posts here the repercussions will affect people across the country.

"The Wall Street Journal reports that the Fort Hood incident follows a particularly grim October during which 16 American soldiers killed themselves in the U.S. and while on duty overseas. The total number of suicides this year among active-duty personnel is now at 134, which puts the Army dangerously close to breaking last year's record of 140 active-duty suicides."

Isn't it amazing the number of people in this thread that know in some way one of the 44 people killed or injured in this tragedy.

It just shows you how much we are all interconnected...bless you all.

What really gets to me is somewhere in this world people are jumping with joy...Allāhu Akbar ...assholes. I regret all deaths in war...enemy included...there is no joy in murder and those that celebrate it are not human.

Butch, I think that has a lot to do with Hood being SRS. In part, I think that's what makes it worse. It's hard enough to go through everything involved in deployment, and then there's this.

Firstly I will express my deepest sympathy for the people who have loved ones there.
Secondly I will say that any country sending their young out in wars has got the duty to make any effort to see that those soldiers come home as safely as possible. If they don’t, and here I mean both physically and mentally, it is the authorities duty to provide adequate care for them for as long as is needed. I am Danish and our soldiers is fighting along the Us and British forces there. Sadly we see failures upon failures of our authorities to provide just that care. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is no different, or might be even worse over there.
I have always been a great believer in freedom of speech, religion and the press. However as the world is going today it becomes more and more apparent that one religion has no intention of living in peace with the rest and in reality is striving for world domination. If this had been a political movement on the lines of the Nazis’, there is no doubt that that it would be prohibited and fought with a vengeance. But when religious leaders go for political power it seems we are totally dumbstruck about defending our self. I have read the Danish constitution and it contains a part which states that groups who is based on violence and overthrow of the government in a violent manner is to be banned. If you listen to what comes out of the Islamic states it is quite clear that it is exactly what they aim at. The overthrow of the western civilization and all which goes with it. I have no doubt that many Muslims in our society is paying lip service to us, while hoping for this behind our back. Read the Quran and you will see what it says on those questions. It is a chilling read I tell you all.

We're sending a lot of people to war through Ft Hood. Thousands of people. If someone doesn't specifically seek out help for issues, there's no way to find what's needed when they are going through there at a rate like that.

Actually Rockspider, quite the contrary. The guy who had had enough at Fort Hood, had already been deployed, and seen more than you'll ever hear from him while he was deployed. Don't start blaming the Jews or the Muslims or the Christians for your "today it becomes more and more apparent that one religion has no intention of living in peace with the rest and in reality is striving for world domination." That is simply not true. The military dominance (at any taxpayers' cost) around the world is clearly the root of all of this, and showing no signs of being satiated. The 40-odd people involved in this incident, will certainly get more press than the 80+ people involved in the Iraqi wedding incidents where Blackwater or the Marines open fire on entire families. The difference is, is that the people at the wedding did not volunteer to potentially give their lives "in defense of their country".

Exactly.You can bet your life alot of the arab world celebrated the killings as they did in certain areas of the world when 9/11 happened.Subhuman.Its frightening to think these people actually believe it is Allahs "will" to murder not just westerners but other muslims who oppose their bloody regime. Iraq, In september, a woman and her 3 little girls where all shot in the head as they slept in their beds by militants who wanted to seek "vengeance" on the man and his family because he joined the Iraqi police.In Allahs name of course.These slughters happen every single day but very rarely documented...you especially would'nt see Al Jazeera report on them..Not interested,unless of course its anti-west propoganda
