Well, I don't know what it is you have been doing for 12 years but my knowledge of it is firsthand, though as I admitted it is limited.

Then again Master Chen instructed me in very acute ways, for the first several months of me learning to bow, so that may make me a little less objective.
No I didn't miss that post nor am I ignorant of proper protocol regarding bowing.
My point was the Japanese tend to be very tolerant of foreigners who at least make a proper attempt.
And I have no idea who Master Chen is or why I should care who he is.
