It would certainly seem so Sanity.....hell what with your facination on all things Obama all the time.....I'm thinking this has entered the area of compulsion?

Sanity -> RE: Mr. President, quit bowing to royals!!! (11/16/2009 3:30:02 PM)

No, the "The bitch doesn't even look human" thread is by far the most telling.

And I guess at this point the best I can do here is simply offer you the same advice you offered FDD.

Sanity -> RE: Mr. President, quit bowing to royals!!! (11/16/2009 3:32:41 PM)

Gee, mike. This is a thread about Obama.

Are you really genuinely surprised that he was mentioned in it?

Gee Sanity, the remark wasn't inspired by your presence on this thread....twas your body of work that led to my concern with your compulsion....but you knew that didn't you?

If the person is higher status or older than you are, you should bow deeper and longer

http://gojapan.about.com/cs/etiquetteinjapan/a/bowing.htm

Three degrees of bows are used by the japanese, but the very deepest, called a sai-keirei, is rarely used except by very elderly japanese in the presence of their emperor. This leaves the medium (or formal) bow and the light bow.

The medium bow is about 45 degrees and held for several seconds.....

Maybe if we get our heads out of the political forums long enough to actually look for some japanese sites, we may discover yet again another attempt of diversion from BOTH sides to take our eyes off what they are ALL doing.

“Saikeirei” is not seen on a regular basis, but is used in order to offer an apology, or when one is extremely grateful for something received, as well as performed before the altar of Shinto shrines and Bhuddist temples. In case of a handshake, straighten the back, and by all means one must look directly into the face (eyes) of the recipient of one’s handshake. It is not to be too strong and not too light. Too strong will reflect an insult and too weak will not reflect good will. In America, such a weak handshake is called a “dead fish handshake”, with the feeling being that the person wielding a dead fish. And, shaking a hand while performing a bow will be seen as subservient (”servile”, “supple”, “mean”), and is not to be done.

Fuck... [sm=lol.gif] few things are funnier than having someone like you try to deride me for being partisan.

Thanks for the laugh. Don't ever quit posting, mike - you're really precious.

And I am sick and tied of hearing about the silliness of diplomacy in theses matters.

.....a very telling statement there FDD. Essentially you appear to be arguing that US politicians, of all stripes, should throw diplomacy out of the window and just be rude to foreigners whose ways are not wholly American.
So what next? Should US presidents ignore all diplomatic protocols at all times when faced with foreign heads of state? Would you see it as rudeness if a foreign head of state treated a US president the same way? Do you genuinely believe that politeness and diplomacy have no place in international relations?
Your picture on thse boards bears the legend 'find your way', a wholly laudable statement. However, you seem to demonstrate an astonishing amount of disrespect for anyone whose way is not in accord with yours.

Ah yes, all our Independent posters are standing in line to demonstrate their impartiality.

"...Angle is a debate of substance."

Orion, I usually respect your posts, but you must be kidding me here.

Condenscending comments usually do not show respect, so I have not seen much of it. It matters not to me though, as I call them as I see them.

I understand a little about Japanese culture and the custom of bowing.

Yeah the internet is a good place to learn, but 12 years of doing it 5 out of seven days a week, in an environment where it really matters, tends to give a different perspective.

I also understand that the Japanese are not the ones complaining in this farce.

You need to reread things, as you often do, because I was not complaining. I said, and stand by that the angle, and other nuances of a bow are substantive in a discussion. Whether the bow was done or not is pretty much just Obama bashing (did you miss that post?).

Then again Master Chen instructed me in very acute ways, for the first several months of me learning to bow, so that may make me a little less objective.

Are you fucking kidding me Sanity....you take partisan to a whole new level...as a matter of fact your calling me partisan(which by the way I admit to....after 8 fucking years of Bush one would have to be an idiot not to have jumped from the Republican bandwagon)I will take as a compliment.
As long as we are throwing partisan bricks at each other...let me ask you Sanity...have you ever been a registered Democrat?I will assume the answer is no...care to guess who I voted for in 2000...and yes to my everlasting shame 2004?....care to guess which primary I couldn't cast a vote for in the last Presidential campaign?
Yeah Sanity I am now a die hard partisan Democrat......I got sick and tired of apologising for my vote. Now which one of us is more married to their ideology....the one who has gone through numerous changes in his viewpoints.....or you?

Hockey moms are far from bitches. They just know how to defend the honor of their kids. the bitch quotient is far higher at CM then it is at the rink in Canada or the US.

tazzygirl -> RE: Mr. President, quit bowing to royals!!! (11/16/2009 5:34:57 PM)

SOCCER moms (which is what Palin campaigned as ) are the ultimate bitches... dont let anyone fool you... i know.. i was one of em [:D]

Naaaa... we just dont let it out to the men in the community. Its amazing how gullible men can be.

Lucylastic -> RE: Mr. President, quit bowing to royals!!! (11/16/2009 5:51:03 PM)

I didnt call her a hockey mom, I called her a bitch re pitbull in lipstick, please stick with the program.
and you are preaching to the choir about how tough "hockey mums" are. Ive had three of my own and would still kill for any of them, and always will. And Ive never been to a rink.

slvemike4u -> RE: Mr. President, quit bowing to royals!!! (11/16/2009 5:56:14 PM)

Yeah ...I do and I also know arguing with a certain someone is liable to bring out the bitch in anyone.......and justifiably so!

tazzygirl -> RE: Mr. President, quit bowing to royals!!! (11/16/2009 5:58:44 PM)

Lets put it this way... men know what kind of bitch a woman can be... and a woman loves that he knows. if a man doesnt know what kind of bitch a woman can be.. he deserves everything she gives him.
