The countries with traditions older then America have many of such protocols. They are not as strict anymore as Kings, Queens and Emprerors are mostly ceremonial "jobs" nowadays. Don't see anyharm in traditions. When you visit our Queen you get a whole list with what to do and what not. A mistake doesn't mean execution...but doing it good...just shows respect. No one thinks you are less when you follow protocol. It just looks better then saying "he dude, whats up"

Why am I not surprised you asked this FDD Do you feel everyone should kiss Obamas ass cos hes the pres? Royals everywhere are used to a different form of protocol to regular old leaders of any old country. You wont see him bowing to the prime minister of Canada or the president of France, or even the Prime minister of the UK, why? hes "just elected" to do the job. In kingdoms, you meet the "head cheese" its respect time. Respect Honor and Dignity strangely supposed to be a part of the BDSM community, yet so many are whinearsing about it.\ Edited to add, took me longer than I expected to type this out so Im glad to see that others have mentioned it too.

Now your President is hoping to maintain those ties even whilst there is growing resentment for the presence of US bases there. He is trying to claw that ground back which has been lost recently by the emergence of China and India in terms of their economic strength and ties in the region and all you can think about is who bowed to who? well, that is their opinion, from a rather scummy fucking article in the first place, but the video doesn't lie. Japanese people (especially those who are about this all the time) move very little, and can be very much like a statute. And Akihito is what? 76years old, and quite frail, and I have much experience (as apparently does Orion) and the fucking EMPEROR OF JAPAN BOWED to the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. But it is most telling that the dillettantes out here, who have absolutely no knowledge of these matters (and the same self styled armchair generals who pontificate about military matters) are the guys shouting impudent and puerile foamings at all hours of the day, and hipping you to their wisdom on these things, as if they are some sort of expert, because they live.
