And its my opinion that even miss manners gets changed from time to time. Obama and the Emporer started off with a hand shake, a western tradition, and moved into a bow, an eastern custom, thereby melding the two forms of respect into a single gesture.

Total nightmare at UN conventions though, 30 minutes has to be set aside at the start for all the various combinations of handshaking, bowing and kissing. Then they invented the ISO Greeting to streamline the process, why nobody uses this is beyond me.
