If the D and S types exchange gifts at all it would depend on the individuals as to what they give/get. As for Sir and I... we tend to give each other ideas throughout the year, which I find very helpful. We lean towards fun gifts as well as sentimental gifts. Hey girly - One of the things I love to do is buy holiday gifts all year round... and wrap them as soon as I have bought them (don't forget to write who they are for ON THE PAPER cause those little taggy things can get lost over the months. Anyway, when the person opens it, I have forgotten what it was and I get as much of a surprise as they do! happy holidays! sunshine

She doesn't claim to be a slave Aynne. So, I'm thinking it doesn't apply. As I read the other thread, it seems she is telling certain others to be as they claim rather than pretending to be what they aren't. And in fact, I have been impressed with Bella's ability to maintain her non-Gorean identity within the Gorean world. It's an interesting juxtaposition. Bella repeatedly says she is NOT a slave. sunshine

Dollparts, Have you asked for the thing you want? I learned this lesson once (well I heard it... I still struggle with the LEARNING part)... Ask for 100% of what you want 100% of the time and be available to negotiate the difference. I was asked recently what I wanted for xmas, and I hemmed and hawed. I talked to Aunt Fab about it, told her what seemed like a "safe" thing to ask for, and she said "Is that what you really want?" And I said, "well, no. What I really want is a super duper deluxe Nimbus 2010 broom" (Ok it wasn't actually a broom, but it was something just as fantastical in my mind). "Well ask for that!" says Aunt Fab. And I did. "What I really want is a super duper deluxe Nimbus 2010 broom," says I. "Hmmm... well let me see if that's feasible," was the answer. The next day... I HAD THE SUPER DUPER DELUXE NIMBUS 2010 BROOM" and a cute little outfit to wear on said broom. [:D] Yup... I asked... It was a big flipping risk, but I asked. And a miracle happened. And yes that is exactly what I was saying in the other thread - it's fine if Star isn't a kajira...but if that's the case she shouldn't have 'kajira' in her handle. Star's postings have actually reminded me a bit of when I first came to that forum thinking I knew everything...I never thought I was a kajira but I still had the same ignorance of Gorean protocols. I'm absolutely mortified thinking of some of the posts I made back then and the more I learn about Gor the more I like and appreciate it. I've been (very slowly) reading the books from the beginning for about a month now, since Kimveri had me go look up a passage in Rogue, and while I don't think I'll ever identify as a Gorean FW I believe there is a lot of merit in Gorean thought. It's definitely something that seems shocking when glanced over on the surface, and I think that FW in the books are given a bad rap and I'm impressed with the real life FW's ability to claim their freedom as their own rather than being used as a trope, but in general I feel that the concept that men and women have different virtues is a very true one, and I appreciate the fact that Gor appreciates differences in the genders.
