I have my own office and my own business, so that's a moot point there. I have started some freelance work for a company, and they have told me I am welcome to use a computer in the office they will be providing for me. All I said was I need the internet to get tasks accomplished for my own business while in their office. When they told me they had internet access, I told them I would prefer to bring my own laptop, so I am on my own equipment. I will also say from the other viewpoint, when I had employees last year, I did not care whther they got on the internet or where they went either, until one had multiple infestations on her computer, which manifested themselves over my server and hit all 5 of my computers, and until I went up front and my admin assistant had 6 windows open in yahoo im. I told them I was installing a keylogger and to stay off the internet, simply because since I didn't care, all their time started being consumed by things other than actual work. They also knew at the time that I visited this site at times while in the office, as they knew of my lifestyle. I just think, that sometimes the limits should be on the employees because the employer has decided it, and that is enough reason. To the OP, I'm not sure if you stated this or not..was the person aware of the company's policy? If she was there was no excuse to be on it, if her employer forbid it.
