I hate to start another thread on healthcare but it's important because people are unfortunately needlessly dying. My understanding is Democrats can still pass a bill with a strong public option if they use reconciliation because then they only need 51 votes. I have come to the conclusion, if my opinion means anything; Obama needs to pass a health care bill with a strong public option to be worthy of being re-elected.
It's really hard to believe that for a paltry few million dollars, probably not even five million dollars, up to 50,000 Americans die every year so insurance companies can make obscene profits. I don't know how American people have a reputation for being generous when fellow citizens are treated in such an inhumane despicable way – shameful. Actually I do, most of the rest of the world doesn’t know.

The Caucus of Corruption – Blanche Lincoln, Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson, and Joe Lieberman – have made it abundantly clear that they will filibuster the public option, despite the fact clear majorities of Americans and Congress support it.
So, what’s a Majority Leader to do? After all, he is the leader of the majority. Harry Reid can let a thoroughly corrupt minority of his caucus block majority rule, or he can do what needs to be done to get around the Caucus of Corruption.

It’s Harry Reid’s Choice Reconciliation = Majority Rule
As the majority leader of the Senate, the power to pass a public option is squarely in Harry Reid’s hands. Will he let three or four corrupt Senators owned by the insurance industry hold the public option hostage? Or will he use the reconciliation process to allow a simple, democratic majority rule?
During debate in the Senate this weekend, a handful of corrupt Democratic senators like Blanche Lincoln and Mary Landrieu, who have taken big donations from insurance companies, promised to vote against health care if it included a public option.
We know who they are working for — the insurance companies who want to kill the public option once and for all. Goldman Sachs expects insurance stocks to rise by 59% in 10 years if there is no public option, but drop by 36% if there is one. That’s what happens when nobody likes your product. Their fat profits depend on being the only game in town.
