When it was stated that they refused the lesser punishment, that to me implies they feel their innocence will be demonstrated and they will be vindicated.

They did not decline a lesser punishment. They declined a less formal hearing of the facts in the incident.

There are no circumstances that would make these charges anything but ridiculous.

Not even the truth?

They should have just killed the fucker and then there wouldnt be an assault trial.

Yeah.
And here we go with "TRIALS" again!
What the hell is going on anyway?
MILITARY operations are just that, why is the judicial branch trying to get involved in Military Ops?
Do they feel "guilty" because they went to college instead of Vietnam like "Geraldo" and Bill Clinton?

If you had spent as much time in the military as you did as a revenue agent you would know what is going on.
There are rules for being a squid. If you cannot or will not follow them then the "squid police" come and fuck you up.
Are you saying that you spent more time in Viet Nam than Geraldo or Clinton?

It would apper that their mission was to capture and not kill him, otherwise they would most likely have sent a sniper.

As the Sister of a former 1977-1984 Navy SEAL and the proud daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter of Navy men, absolutely insane is putting it lightly. This type of bleeding heart, politically correct BS is what is tearing at the strength of this country and will finish it off with America on it's knees.

As the proud son of a WWII & Korean Conflict Army Veteran and a Proud Vietnam Era Veteran myself, I couldn't agree with you more. God Bless you, your father, your grandfather and your great grandfather. God Bless Our Troops. God Save America from Obama.

God save America from flag waving morons.

They delivered him alive, and the worst he had was a fat lip. Their restraint was Saintly. And their (ahem) leader is allowing them to be charged...

Yes, this is outrageous.

Do you really think commanders in the field actually check with the president about whom they may
court martial?

Because there was no damn reason to punish them at all.....Why should their records be tainted for this?

Had you ever been in the military you would know that being court martialed is not punishment. It is a trial to which you go innocent till proven guilty.
Only a guilty verdict would taint a mans record.
