It's so simple, just takes pineapple rings, either fresh or canned, and lightly lightly sprinkle some brown sugar or any kind of sweetener you like if you wish, I like it plain too, then grill them either on a grill pan in the stove top, or open grill, or even in a skillet will work, then plate them and serve them with some fat free vanilla yogurt , regualr or frozen, and sprinkle on some nuts, or cinnamon, whatever you like. I used to drizzle some frangelico or other liquor over it if you have any. It is so delicous you can even serve it for like a company dessert. Plus, the added pineapple for your man bonus. [;)].

Now that pineapple recipe sounds DELICIOUS!! I think I'll try that in the near future [:D]

Yes, that's the one. I did the math, and it comes out to around 5 lbs a week. She and I are exactly the same weight. My neurologist and cardiologist said "go ahead, it seems to be workin' for ya.", so I'm off and running. She and I weigh the exact same amount. I've kicked up my workouts at the gym, and have started doing cardio/weights in the AM and swimming in the evening. I'm not going to adjust my diet, though -- I'm going to stick with the paleo/grainless and see how that works.

If you're doing paleo... especially if you're dairy-free paleo, you can do this with fresh pineapple and coconut palm sugar (which actually isn't a sugar... it's the dehydrated sap from the coconut palm, and is low GI), and use Purely Decadent Coconut Milk ice cream (sweetened with agave/stevia). I love the Mocha Almond Fudge flavor with fruit -- so that would probably go really, really well with this.

UPDATE:  Apparently just reading the tips on this thread about how to exercise without going to the gym have helped to break my plateau.  I weighed in this am & have lost 3 more lbs, making my grand total 26 lbs since August!!!  I turned down a yummy quesadilla for lunch because i just don't think that a cheese based meal is a good thing.  My plan today is to walk to the store & get more low-fat protein & do some exercising inside the house.  I guess I need to google "planks".  [8|]

Linea here is a link for Planks.  I know on TBL they have the contestants do them on their hands like the upstroke of a pushup and hold it.   I still to this day suck at side-plank which it also shows.

Also, i wouldn't worry about stalls your body will do them periodically to readjust, do what you have done and just wait it out.  There are all kinds of myths about breaking stalls but pretty much, your body hits certain times when it does its own thing and as long as you aren't gaining just keep doing what you are or maybe reevaluate your exercise and up it or try some different things to see if that helps.

Also, stress can cause the symptoms of a stall.  Also, just as an aside, don't forget to have good fats in your diet.  If you stall try upping your GOOD fats (olive oil or some kind of nut oil) by a teaspoon or so.  Many people get paranoid about low-fat and they forget that they do need good fat in their diet.

I go crazy with nuts. Right now, I am craving pecans and I do a cup at a time. My brother saw the can of nuts with sea salt in the desk and me to stop playing with my nuts...

I do try to eat salmon & use olive oil when cooking.  Right now, I'm kind of a captive to my sister's food whims, since I have so little money to buy my own food.  

I was pretty patient through this stall.  I knew that I wasn't gaining & that I was doing good things for my body.  Any moving that I do now is way more than what I was doing before, so it's all good.  I did google plank but thank you for the link.  I'm going to start out leaning into my dresser as a beginning.  I truly haven't used many muscles on a consistent basis in years.  When I first moved here, I went for a walk each day with my sis & tried to keep up with her.  By the 3rd day, I was begging for opiates!!  LOL

I love nuts, and they're usually cheap this time of year.  They freeze very well too.  I have a bag of mixed almonds, walnuts, and pecans, with dates and dried cranberries for nibbling. 

Is it just me, or are the packaged 'baby' carrots just not usually as good as whole carrots?  I gave up buying them, because the better flavour and better keeping qualities are worth the ten minutes it takes to scrub a two pound bag of carrots, then cut them into manageable pieces.  I don't peel my carrots, I just give them a good scrubbing.

"baby" carrots aren't really baby carrots. Here's a really good article about them, and good justification why -not- to buy them.

Llyren, Calla is so right. Baby carrots are yucky, "real" carrots are so much yummier, you weren't imagining it. Those little spongy flavorless things they call baby carrots are so tasteless.

Hi Calla

I think its awesome you are going to do this with Shay. I think exercise really is the key because if you really think about the show, they are working out like 5-6 hours a day including tons of cardio and strength training. They don't really focus on what the contestants are eating except a basic plan of reasonable calorie -- i hate saying low because they are eating anywhere from 1200-2000 cals depending on their body and while its lower than what they normally eat it is sustainable and still good calorie intake on average -- lower fat with a focus on good fats and lower carb with a focus on good carbs. So i don't think its about the diet plan (even though they make money off the books lol) but the focus on being active, staying active and working out.

When i once lost 50 lbs in two months i was working out about an hour a day of which i made sure i burned off all of the fat calories i ate that day and i was on the devil machine which is what i call the elliptical lol. It got to the point EVERY bite of food i put in my mouth that wasn't on my daily plan to eat, i started weighing lol no pun in tended, how many extra minutes i would have to do to lose the calories i was eating. It was a great way to stay on plan lol.

If you need any encouragement or help or whatever feel free to let me know. I am not really the cheerleader type but my friends tell me when they need a kick in the ass, logic, or a reality check lol they come running. So feel free to message.


I will be doing this "NEW SEASON which airs 01.05.2010 as you said the finale is in May 2010. I am not going to give myself a goal, i am simply going to do what works for me -- stop the pop, work out at least 2 hours on weekdays and 3 on weekends, keep the plan lower carb and drink the damn water lol. Its amazing the contestants are already in the season and should be at home by now for Season 9. I believe from start to finish its 7 months -- at least this season was. What's weird for me, is if i put myself on a plan, i actually do okay over the holidays because i am actually focused on being conscious of what i am eating and determining if i really want it. i don't feel deprived when i do that, i more so simply realize i don't need to try it all lol just because its there.

i did want a body bugg but its too expensive and you also have to pay to use the service.

Good luck to all who are choosing to do this. My inbox is open but just be aware lol i am not a ra ra cheerleader, though i do get excited for successes.

Last night I had my Lean Cuisine 4-cheese pizza.....salad....Vitamin 1 flavored water......yogurt for desert (Lime Key).  I also did my workout for abs, buns & arms.
I'm really going to have to eat better, I'm noticing that I'm having Hypoglycemic events more so than usual after my workouts.[>:] After the workout I forced myself to eat some peanut butter w/a fruit cocktail chaser.[:'(]

This AM I had my usual 1/2 pot of coffee & Special K w/berries cereal (always w/skim milk).

Uh, I love baby carrots!
