Unfortunately, even with all these changes, I'm stuck.  I lost 3 lbs after I lost my job & have stalled there.  No weight loss for the last month.  I know that my sister prepares foods that are higher in fats & carbs & lower in protein than what I was eating before.  So that may be it.

Anyhoo....any room for me in this her group??

Of course there is!  Linnaea, you might want to consider weight training, and if you can, switch to a different cardio.  It might jumpstart your weight loss again.  Your body may have gotten too used to the exercise, so it isn't as effective.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 2:10:53 PM)

Actually, the exercise part is the newest part.  I pretty much sat on my dead ass in the front seat of a big truck for the last several years.  I'll have to see what I can find to use as weights as I'm currently broke, unemployed & homeless, sorta.

mnottertail -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 2:13:49 PM)

pails of water, books, a chair, a stool, a cement block, anything heavier than air to start.

grab you some of those blown out inner tubes on your truck and cut them into bands........thats some resistance there.........they are fucking rough to pull.

Weights are easy.  Food cans work well to start.  You can work up to water jugs filled with water, to vary the weight.  And just remember, even at rest a pound of muscle burns more calories than a pound of fat.

nubianmuscle -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 2:59:50 PM)

I use sandbags for a lot of stuff.  Because of the shifting weight and the fact that they are unbalanced, you end up working a lot of muscles and stabilizers, you wouldn't even think about working, simply by default.

Also, a huge resistance concept AND ITS FREE especially if you are new to exercise is your own body resistance and weight.  Do planks, pushups, wall pushups, stand and rows, lunges, squats free standing and against the wall, crab chair lift thingy (bench lifts i think they are called), ballet leg lifts, calf raises, crunches on a ball or without it, hover squats (believe me these do kick your ass even though they appear easy).  Your body is a weight in and of itself.  You can then add medicine balls or the exercise band things as you build strength and are pretty cheap to get.  What you want is resistance, any type of resistance.

Seriously, in the beginning especially, and overweight person or even a average weight person who is beginning strength training can use their bodies easily as weight lifters use free weights.

As others have suggested your house is your friend, you can pretty much find 2, 5, 10, 20 lb things around the house, just be very sure not to strain anything -- 2 lbs doesn't feel like anything initially but after a while you start to feel it -- so don't think its too little always try it first and exhaust the muscle with it before determining its too little weight.  -  whistles no i am not speaking from experience -- really!! (tongue in cheek).

Good luck.

No meat?  Bah... pixie and I are both carnivores.   But I AM glad you found something you like.  Lean Cuisine generally doesn't have enough food for me, but they do come in handy, as long as you know how to read the ingredient labels.

You're right about not having enough food! Lol
The thing about the frozen "dinner's" is too much sodium but that's a risk I'll take [:D]
I try to eat these once a day & if I eat it at home I'll mix is up w/a salad.
If I eat it at work I'll just eat cereal/fruit at home.

The huge salad thing with a lean cuisine does help it Pots, and I always eat a huge salad with dinner, and sometimes just a huge salad for lunch too.  I also always carry around with me those little 4 packs of starkist white tuna in water with a pop top so if I am starving mid-day I eat one of those and it does help. I have been good for the past 5 days so tonight I was craving sushi and I got it, sushi in itself isn't bad, as long as you are a purist and don't those awful rolls with the white rice and just stick to sashimi. I was jonesing for some fried tofu tho, and I did get one order, screw it.

Okay so anyway, I want in. Here's my stats. I'm 5'8" and a 154 pounds, give or take 5. I know it's not horrible but I need to be back to 140 pounds, I am not comfortable and at 43 it takes forever to lose it and a week to gain it. So, my goal is to lose 20 pounds with a little leeway that way. My main sin food is blue cheese or anything like cheese and good bread, olive oil, red wine, olives, roasted garlic spread on crusty italian bread....you get the idea. So, no more! I am going to join the gym tomorrow, we have a great ladies only fitness center and it's 99.00 for 3 months. [:D].

CountrySong,

Given the physical condition of most of the doms I have seen, as a group, we all need more exercise, so I see no problem with a little chasing.  After all, this IS the biggest loser thread.  Plus, you get to see all their jiggly parts a-bouncin'! [sm=shake.gif]

Such a slut!

yourdarkdesire - maybe we just need to get together for a week and have all the Doms chase us around :)
It would work better is we just put the sub in pony girl gear head harness, then ttached a lunge line and used one of the 20 foot lunge whips to keep them running in a lunge circle. (This keeps the Dom from getting tired and lets him help several subs in a day.)[sm=sm.gif]
Oh and there is always clipping them to the horse walker by head harness or breast clamp that can keep four of them going for hours.
Once they have built some mucle and stamina then place them on a cart.
A little feed control, lots of massages, and in three to six month you have a trim fit sub.
Any takers? I'll have my land soon.

Thanks for the offer CS, but this sub doesn't do pony play!

Me either, never saw the draw personally.

For those who are interested, The Biggest Loser Finale is on live right now on NBC

Amanda was elected by America to be part of the Final 3 and Liz was last contestant eliminated.

They are now going through and introducing the eliminated players and seeing how well they have done.

I still don't know how long it is from the first day on the ranch to the live finale, i "believe" its about 8 months total. Anyone else know?

If you aren't familiar with the show, the eliminated contestants compete to win $100,000 and the final three compete to win $250,000 and this seasons biggest loser. And its based on percentage lost not on the numbers of pounds lost. This season has many people who weighed in the 400s!! Their dedication and losses are seriously amazing especially for ones who got eliminated early in the show. What's scary are the ones you don't recognize anymore.

Nahh i don't watch the show lol.

You're right about bodyweight barelynangel. I've seen plenty of guys who can benchpress a truck and cannot do ONE pushup. It teaches youto get a feel for and control of your body and forces more than just your target muscles to work.

nubianmuscle -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 5:43:19 PM)

Yes, I know you are, but I like that.

HI nubianmuscle,

grins, believe me i wouldn't have believed it until i had a personal trainer who believed in nothing but using your body weight as your resistance BECAUSE it works more muscles than just weights and weight machines. I hated her lol many a days. I cursed her and if i could have i would have committed justifiable homicide with the pain she caused me lol. But it works -- you really have to push through it. A lot of it is also building of your core which carries your whole body.

nubianmuscle -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 5:56:59 PM)

Yeah. It will definitely humble you and it takes patience and perserverance especially for us larger guys. People's jaws drop when they see someone my size doing handstand pushups. A lot of guys can't take the blow to their ego when they first start, so they don't stick with it.

VirginPotty -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 6:10:29 PM)

[&o]Pushups are pretty hard for me. My p/t always had me
do the tricep pushups......aaaarrrrggghh!
Another hard exercise are the chin ups. I just can't lift
this big a$$ up!

CountrySong -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 6:15:43 PM)

If you can afford it this works really well and is extremely healthy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ip-VkRgHkM but it costs about $20 a day. I might do it this summer for three months.

nubianmuscle -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 6:25:42 PM)

Are you strong enough to just hang from the bar? Most people have to progress to pullups.

barelynangel -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 6:28:43 PM)

Hey - because of the name and nature of this thread i also wanted to let you know that The Biggest Loser has a pound for pound challenge that everyone who is in this thread signing up can go and pledge.

Here is a description: For every pound you pledge to lose through June 30, 2010, the Pound For Pound Challenge will donate 14¢ to Feeding America® — enough to deliver one pound of groceries to a local food bank. $800,000 maximum donation. See RULES and FAQS for more details.

http://www.pfpchallenge.com/About.aspx

It doesn't cost you anything but your pledge to lose pounds of fat you no longer want. This isn't a must do or a have to do, i just thought it could be added insentive for those who wish they could do more as well as additional inspiration to lose weight. It also tells you what foodbank your pledge goes toward based on the zipcode you enter. It does cap the maximum pledge to 50 lbs, so please if you have friends you do this with who aren't here, have them sign up also.

I didn't check the TOS to see if this is okay to post -- if its not, please delete this post
.

sophiesback - Seems quite an offer, but i have plenty of muscle and stamina without being treated as an animal. Thanks anyhow, and good luck!

Okay chase it is. But I'm getting a four legged horse to chase with - 17 calories a minute at a gallop verses 21 calories a minute for running at a 6 mile per hour rate. Close calorie burn and a lot less tiring. I can ride for hours (yes that is both types).

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/8/2009 8:38:52 PM)

A big thank you to everyone who gave me these wonderful suggestions on how I can exercise at home.  My sister has some bands & a ball here so I'm going to get started tomorrow.  It's raining out there so I don't know if I'll feel up to a walk.  I can always run up & down these 4 flights of stairs.  (48 total steps)  [8D]
