Sunshine,  yes fat is very hard for people to fathom is actually good for you and good for losing weight.  But the good fats are what is needed.   Try some nut oils in your salads or grab some nuts (NOT PEANUTS) as a snack with some fruit on some yogurt.

Also, if it has not been said -- which i think i have mentioned before though maybe not in this thread -- BEWARE LOW FAT OR NO FAT ITEMS.   Many times sugar is added to replace the fat which is why you may not feel full or feel hungry quickly after eating same.

Fat also is what helps you with that FEEL FULL feeling you say you have been missing.   Its why many people freak out about Atkins because of all the fat in the plan -- however, what most people don't get is that its the GOOD fats that are advocated -- not the greasy fast food fats. Also, if you are missing the feeling full concept, make sure you have what i call hard to eat foods -- i.e., crunchy, textured, chewy type foods, it takes more effort to eat so you feel as if you have actually put some effort into eating which also adds to that feel full concept mentally.   You know you ATE the meal instead of swallow it down with no effort and no memory of what it tasted like or such.  If that makes sense.

The other thing about having a sensible amount of fat in your diet is that it triggers the enzymes that start metabolizing and burning off the fat you just ate, and when they're done with the fat you just ate, they keep on metabolizing for awhile and go after the fat stored on your body.....which is a good thing, I believe.   If you eat little or no fat, you might lose weight quickly at first, but then your body adjusts to that and the weight comes back on.

Last night I had whole wheat grain tortilla wraps (2) dipped in chopped tomatoes w/basil & oregano. Crystal lite to wash it down.
I went out for an hour walk then came home washed 2 loads of laundry up/down 3 flights of steps several times.
Topped off w/2 wine coolers & 2 Benadryl.[:D]

How did I miss this? But I'm so in. I've lost most of my weight - just a bit more to go and then I need to keep it off AND get muscle again!

I got to my nephew's after his wife & child were already asleep.  I slept in & when I went downstairs, I thought there was something definitely different about the wife.  it took me a full cup of coffee before I realized that she was considerably smaller.  She told me that she has lost 65 lbs since May!!  I asked her how she did it & she said that she started by adding more high fiber foods to her diet.  She has since modified her diet more, ie:  portion control, less fats & sweets.  She also started riding her bicycle to the gym & working out more.  She has inspired me even more to do this.  I've registered with Fitness Magazine online & plan to start following one of their diets & some workout plans.  You go, Corinne!!!

Oh, & she also told me that her sister started losing first & her mother has lost over 100 lbs!!

HI all, just a little tidbit i thought i would pass along, even if you walk or such -- try and incorporate HIIT -- High INtensity Interval training. What it does is boosts your work out and calorie burn while you are working out. What you do is set time intervals in your work out where you up what you are doing to go all out. For example, if you walk starting at what ever is easiest for you -- 15 seconds, 30 etc (it will get longer the more you do this) and for those 15 seconds you walk as fast as you can, then bring it back down to what you were doing for a rest period and then when you are recovered do it again. As you get use to it you will start timing yourself for example, if you plan to walk for a 1/2 hour, you warm up for 5 minutes and then minute 6 you run as fast as you can or walk as fast as you can, you bring it back down to a steady pace for minute 7 and 8, then go all out for another minute, rest for 2 etc.

There are all different ways of doing this but what you are aiming for is just getting your heartrate up by going all out. This is a really good way of utilizing a maximum calorie burn for the time you are doing your cardio. You can also do cardio normal and then save the last 10 minutes for this it will still boost your calorie burn. Whatever you do however, don't STOP moving after you do the high intensity part, keep going instead of resting as in stoping to catch your breath. Catch it while moving.
