The usual 8-year presidential turnover cycle will be replaced by 4-year cycle as a norm.

What "usual 8-year presidential turnover cycle?"

Washington--8 years
John Adams--4
Jefferson--8
Madison--8
Monroe--8
John Quincy Adams--4
Jackson--8
Van Buren--4
Harrison--1 month
Tyler--4
Polk--4
Taylor--1 year, 4 months
Fillmore--2 years, 8 months
Pierce--4
Buchanan--4
Lincoln--4 years, 1 month
Andrew Johnson--4
Grant--8
Hayes--4
Garfield--6 months
Arthur--3 years, 6 months
Cleveland--4 years
Harrison--4 years
Cleveland--4 more years
McKinley--4 years, 6 months
Theodore Roosevelt--7 years, 6 months
Taft--4 years
Wilson--8 years
Harding--2 years, 5 months
Coolidge--5 years, 7 months
Hoover--4 years
Franklin D. Roosevelt--12 years, 1 month
Truman--7 years, 11 months
Eisenhower--8 years
Kennedy--2 years, 10 months
Lyndon B. Johnson--5 years, 2 months
Nixon--5 years, 7 months
Ford--2 years, 5 months
Carter--4 years
Reagan--8 years
George H. W. Bush--4 years
Clinton--8 years
George W. Bush--8 years
Barack Obama--10 months and counting

Eleven Presidents, out of 44, served 8 years.

I guess 25% is the new "usual."

If you keep it to recent history it is three of the last four, spanning 28 years.

Cherry picking to get the numbers desired doesn't establish a pattern.

Take it just from 1950, if we're to play that game--4 out of ten.

Or from 1900, only 30%, 6 out of 20.

Hey, I know! Just go from 2000--100%!

Or, if we count back how long this usual pattern persisted....oh.....two.

OK, but after a four year term, then.....oh...one.

Unless there is another major disaster economically Obama will be president until 2016, maybe even if there is one.

Youve got that backwards. Unless there is a major miracle economically, Obama is toast.

It would seem 28 years through four Presidencies would establish at least a trend if not a pattern.

OK, but after a four year term, then.....oh...one. [...then H.W. Bush's four years, then only Reagan's eight years...from there we have to go back to Eisenhower to find a President serving eight years. Again, hardly the "usual" pattern.]

Huh?
