Sanity -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 9:06:46 AM)

There will come a point after which it will be impossible to keep up with the interest on the debt, and the Democrat controlled Congress (and the President) appear to be doing all that they possibly can to surpass that point.

Watch Saturday Night Live much?

I know I'm not the only one who is seeing this...

He's trying to bankrupt it.

I hate to break it to you, but thats already been accomplished by the actions of the private sector.  And it only took a mere 10 years to accomplish after a REPUBLICAN congress passed legislation in 1999 and 2000 and a DEMOCRAT president signed the legislation..

I simply do not understand the negrophobia-driven paranoia about a $10 trillion debt created by government when the unregulated private sector elite has built $700 trillion in gambling debts while playing around in Wall Street's gambling parlors.  And they have tied that debt, systemically, to our financial system.  This is what Warren Buffet calls "Financial WMDs".   The vast majority of your tax dollars spent on bailouts so far have gone to pay off the gambling debts of private companies, helping pay off the bets held by the bookie department of these large banks.

I don't blame Obama for spending 1 trillion to keep a 700 trillion bomb from detonating.  Obviously, the $700 trillion bomb will completely wipe us out, while $1 trillion will not.

I simply do not understand all the "sky is falling" paranoia over 1/70th of the problem (or 1.4%) that was created by government. Methinks the other 98.6% of the problem created by the unregulated private sector is wee bit more critical to our survival.

Same goes for healthcare reform.  Even if reform costs us $1 trillion, its still only 1/70th of the WMD's hanging over our heads that was created courtesy of an unregulated private sector.

I guess its good that the small minds among us are busy sweating the small stuff (1.4% of the problem).  It keeps them busy, away from messing with the real threat.

I'd be a whole lot happier if FOX would just drop the NEWS part of the title, and (in accordance with truth in advertising laws) and instead call themselves "FOX GOP PROPAGANDA."

Hey, they report things in a highly slanted fashion, they re-edit video footage to make GOP events seem better attended than they really are, and they can't seem to do basic math, or understand the concept behind percentages.

The really wonderful thing about this is, they are pushing the "astroturf" teabagger movement to the point they will be running third party candidates against the GOP candidates in the mid terms. This will have the effect of splitting the vote, and allow even more progressives to take the seats. Thus, the republican party (and it's teabagger offshoot) will go down in flames, and become nothing more than ghosts of what they once were.

Which is only just, considering they at one time bragged about how they were going to become a "permanent majority" and rule this country like it was a dictatorship.* I don't know what will rise to replace this political dinosaur, but let's all hope it has the good sense to be more moderate, and centrist in it's views.

Do you have links to stories indicating this?

I'm only aware of them influencing the choice of candidates (and of course, whom to elect), as they are not a political party.

No, not if that president hates the country. You know, as in, "Not God Bless the USA... God Damn the USA!!!"

Which, that is a direct quote from President Obama's spiritual advisor of over twenty years, the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright.

And you are aware, those are two *different* people, right? Not all black people are the same.

Sanity -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 1:46:32 PM)

Just as you quoted me, I wrote that Wright was Obama's spiritual advisor of over twenty years, clearly indicating that I am fully aware that they are different people, Loki.

Good, then you realize the asinine nature of the insinuation you made. Saves me the trouble of pointing it out.

Sanity -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 2:05:35 PM)

I believe that most reasonable people are troubled by Obama's relationship with Wright, whether they admit to it or not. Ignoring the implications of that relationship would be asinine, but facing facts is never asinine.

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 2:07:27 PM)

Yeah there have been entire threads devoted to it. Where it has been pointed out Obama distanced himself from those comments and the religious nut himself retracted most of it.

Not to harp on about it or anything though.

Would you mind telling us all where you got this information from on Fox News?I'd like to see some examples of this stuff.

And I believe that due to having seen stories of people being married for 20 years with one not knowing the other is gay, or wanting a sex change, or cheating on them for 10 years, it *is* possible that Obama never knew any of this. It's certainly true that he never agreed with it.

So your comparison is asinine, (In)Sanity.

He sat through Wrights preaching his hate, it wasn't hidden in any way.

After attending Wrights' services religiously for over twenty years, Obama finally began trying to distance himself from the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright during the run up to the presidential elections last year.

Say it with me - it was P-o-l-i-t-i-c-a-l   e-x-p-e-d-i-e-n-c-y.

You are right, Sanity. If Obama had been completely honest, he would have said that there are systemic inequalities between races in this country. He would have acknowledged that it is pretty hard to spend your life fighting against them without getting very angry at times. Then he might have pointed out that angry people don't always say the wisest things, even if their cause is just.

But those conservatives who want to pretend that every racial problem in this country were settled by the 1960's don't want to hear that. They would rather pretend there is no reason for anger on the part of civil rights activists because everything is just hunky dory.

Sanity -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 3:11:11 PM)

Well if he's angry you put him in a time out in a corner, you don't nominate him for the highest office in the land. There are plenty of perfectly reasonable black people who the Democrats could have nominated for the first black president if having that distinction was such a priority for them.

Didn't you learn anything in kindergarten?

Lucylastic -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 3:43:59 PM)

So any angry person should be given a time out in a corner and not given any post of responsibility?
What does a responsible person feel Sanity? never anger? never wanting better for his community, people he cares about, his own family, never to see the wrongs in this world and want to put them right? Never talk about what is wrong and try to make a difference?
Im not placing ethnicity in this because it should be the same for every ethnic group...but you seem to think this is special just to Obama cos he is black and has angry black friends.
Sounds to me like YOU are the one that is suggesting he is all powerful, all godlike and perfect and should act like a god, not like a flawed human being.

Sanity -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 3:47:18 PM)

If someone is hateful (and thats the issue, calling it "angry" is obfuscation) then no, they don't belong in positions of power and responsibility, regardless of color or party.

As I recall, Rev. Wright was never nominated for office, nor was he offered any position of responsibility. This is a pretty obvious attempt to keep confusing Obama with Wright and hoping that something will rub off.

As far as I've seen, Obama has been pretty level headed on racial matters.

Lucylastic -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 4:18:40 PM)

mmmmmmm then please tell me where Obama has been hateful.
Not Wright, Not Whatisface, but from Obama???
Just Obama, (not trying to put words in his mouth by his relationships with outspoken men)
ask Mrs Tiger Woods about relationships and having the same beliefs in everything.

You are trawling for the smallest nibble casting obfuscation everywhere and never answering for yourself.
Hateful to me would be starting a war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11
Hateful would be displacing a million innocents for oil
Hateful would be starting a war that kills more US citizens than 9/11 did
Hateful is not looking after those US citizens fighting the war.
Hateful is leaving those innnocents without homes or livelihoods yet declaring you set them free
shall I go on?
You have been hateful towards Obama than he has been hateful towards you...do I get to send you to a corner?....dammit thats Mod 11s department, oh well....I wouldnt anyway, I know the difference
definitions are a bitch aint they?
so... whatcha got for me?

Sanity -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 4:23:20 PM)

Except for his knee-jerk reaction where he picked sides against the white cop vs. the black professor. And his attorney general's office allowing the Black Panthers to slide, the ones who were caught on videotape intimidating white voters. And his twenty plus years of attending to hate-filled sermons of Jeremiah Wright.

Except for a few nagging little things like that?

SpinnerofTales -> RE: Fox News anchors dumbing down for their audience (12/13/2009 4:27:43 PM)

I personally think that the cop in the Gates case was stupid, for reasons I've gone into that have nothing to do with race. It should also be noted that Obama himself said that that comment was not helpful and moved to bring those two together to actually talk it out.

The black panthers weren't "let slide", some of the charges that they were facing were not persued, others were.

And, if you want to call him racist for associating with someone who you claim is "hate filled" then do we judge the religious right and the republicans with the "god hates fags" nonsense of the ultra right wing evangelicals? Or do we only apply those rules when it's convenient to you?

Keep pounding the drum, Sanity, maybe someone will start dancing.
