You forgot something: cost of war.

Oh yeah, there is that. But that was to defend ourselves from the imminent thermonuclear attack by the fantasy weapons Saddam didn't have, so it doesn't really count.

mnottertail -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 10:23:45 AM)

Yeah, think of what that would have cost, since we would have supplied those to him in the '80's war with Iran, so you'd have to add that to the total..............

Looks like we've gotta goto the tangerine column on the abacus for this one.

I clicked on your link and the web page said "The page you requested cannot be found. It may have been removed, had its name changed, or be temporarily unavailable."

Then I Googled "job approval rating 47" and one of the first hits was the following article on Gallup's web page, and its dated December 7th:

quote:

After Brief Uptick, Obama Approval Slips to 47% New low follows slight increase after announcement of Afghanistan policy by Jeffrey M. Jones PRINCETON, NJ -- Barack Obama's presidential job approval rating is 47% in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update, a new low for his administration to date. His approval rating has been below 50% for much of the time since mid-November, but briefly rose to 52% last week after he announced his new Afghanistan policy.

I don't know what you think three percentage points in a different poll might have proved anyway.

Sanity, what does it say  on the link above??
http://www.gallup.com/Home.aspx
oh it says 50% not 47%
It said it on the 9th as well which was the original date you posted the original  thread.

sanity, sometimes your comments ... sighs.

perhaps if you read something beyond fox news, you might actually realize a few things. For one, Bush had a lower approval rating than Obama has seen to date just before 9/11. I know you wont respond to that, or even comment... but.. really... before you shove your foot between your lips like this again, you may want to do a bit of research first.

Sanity -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 2:48:52 PM)

Bush isn't the answer to every question, taz. Obama's 47 at this point is the lowest for every president, including Gerald Ford - who pardoned President Nixon.

It must be depressing for all you far lefties to have to try to defend Obama by constantly insisting that he's a lot like Bush...  I thought that this president was supposed to be about some kind of "change"!

Because you cant figure out to navigate a web page is NOT my issue
Here is the page Im talking about
[image]http://www.lucylasticslair.com/fun/sanitygah.jpg[/image]
OR
Try going to just the front page http://www.gallup.com .....the figures are the same
Would you like me to draw arrows in red to point out the figures????? or can you manage that on your own
Considering the facts on that front page with the LATEST numbers(we are on the 11th not the 7th now yanno) actually show that compared to  the 52 week lows, his aproval is better, the job creation stats are showing to be better, Economic confidence is 9 % better and consumer spending is up but  Ill give that reason to christmas.
Now you brought up the importance of this poll, so own it or ignore it, but dont make me out to be an idiot.
3 points is enough of a rise to be noticeable because you brought up that he went under 50% to 47..he did..hes now back(according to Gallup)  to 50.

tazzygirl -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 2:55:39 PM)

Wrong again. Reagan, Clinton, Truman, Ford.... all had close to the same numbers at this time. Then again, if you had checked the site i provided, you would know that.

From your own link, Bush was never lower than 50% before 9/11

So what. You're as bad as Lucy now, trying to claim that another poll by the same organization (Gallup) negates the poll I linked to, which it doesn't. The USA Today article was about another Gallup poll and its meaningless in this context.

Seems kind of desperate to me. But thats understandable, I am guessing you have a huge emotional investment in Barack Obama and it must really pain you to watch his slow motion train wreck like this...

dsuluv247 -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:04:53 PM)

The only thing Obama has Accomplished is to mess up this country even more than it was. We do not need a radical in office but we have one.

tazzygirl -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:06:38 PM)

Sept 7th - 10th, Bush' rating was 51%

August 31 - Sept 2, Obama's rating 54%... the same two weeks later.

Which says nothing about the statement that Obama, at 47%, is lower than Bush's low THROUGH THIS POINT IN TIME , which is a fact in comparable polls, no matter how you try to dance around it.

Mercnbeth -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:20:51 PM)

The case could be made that comparing Obama to Bush doesn't speak well for Obama, especially from the sources trying to use that argument.

Would stipulating that at this point, Obama is as bad as Bush make you all happy and feel better?

Ford? That he's comparable at all, having just gotten the job he was never elected to at the top of the ticket or as VP, isn't something that should be comparable at all! If this poll was taken after his Nixon pardon - WOW! I'm surprised he's wasn't much lower.

And going back to Truman, I mean really TRUMAN!? HARRY Truman?! The man barely was elected President. Was this about haberdashery or the falling public opinion of a President elected with a plurality and popularity enjoyed by Obama just one year ago?

Arguing about, or if there is, a 2-3% difference to your poster child for bad president should worry you.

tazzygirl -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:23:18 PM)

No one is dancing. Odd how his poll numbers are being brought up now... lol... yet you and your sand side kick cant acknowledge that Bush' rating went up because of a WAR... one he initiated, one he couldnt complete, one that has cost over a trillion dollars.

And you wonder why he hit 25% at the end of his term?

Yeah, you two are real brainiacs.

Sanity -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:25:48 PM)

Ford became President when Nixon resigned in August of 1974 and Ford pardoned him in September of 1974 so yes, the comparison would have been after the pardon.

Do you get dizzy from spinning so hard?

Lucylastic -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:29:13 PM)

sanity, it doesnt negate it because the poll is up to 50 % now(the 11th)  I never negated the 47 I merely pointed out it was 50 % on the same day.
You ignored my link on the other thread, and now because its a day or so later, you say you werent wrong, but you were.

You whine about obama promising change, but not seeing anything, yet you are whining obfuscating and bitching about the bailout, healthcare, Afganistan, ad nauseum,if he werent making changes, you would be a happy little camper, just because its not change YOU want, does not mean a damn thing.

Sanity -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:31:03 PM)

That acknowledgment was made in the FOX News article in the first paragraph taz.

quote:

Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and even Richard Nixon all had higher approval ratings 10-and-a-half months into their presidencies. Obama's immediate predecessor, President George W. Bush, had an approval rating of 86 percent, or 39 points higher than Obama at this stage. Bush's support came shortly after he launched the war in Afghanistan in response to the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Sorry, but you're REALLY reaching now... [:)]

But that it is not the change that most of the country wants does mean a lot.

tazzygirl -> RE: The 90 Accomplishments of President Obama (12/11/2009 3:38:12 PM)

LOL.... get your numbers right fellas. Be thankful a war prevented Bush from falling lower than 25%.

One day you might actually be right... about something.

No one wants to take on the Reagan numbers... rofl... dont blame you.
