"Any business that could hire someone equally capable and as valuable for the business for less money would be insane not to." That is exactly why there is a gender gap. And the link works just fine.

The link there is not the original one to Census data, which cant be accessed because dataferret is down.

And your first two sentences are a claim that women are not equally capable and valuable to business? With equal experience, in fact, the census bureau information shows that you could argue there is a "reverse gender gap". Women with the same level of education and experience, in the workforce for the same amount of time, earn MORE than their male counterparts.

If you break the data down to apples to apples comparisons there is no gender gap.

The 2nd sentance of your post makes no sense at all. Read your own words, which I quoted, again and you should see my meaning.

"Any business that could hire someone equally capable and as valuable for the business for less money would be insane not to.

What i meant when I quoted it was; If a woman is equally capable and as valuable but could be paid less than her male counterpart, of course a business would be insane not to pay her less.

I honestly don't know the reasons behind the pay gap it seems impossible to me. Yet I keep seeing reports and data that says it exists. I would like to see the evidence that you have seen that shows women actually make more than men. May I have a link to the census data you refer to?

The point is they cant pay women less (unless women banded together and decided as a group that they were going to underprice the market).

There are multiple reasons, and multiple studies investigating them.

Women take time out from the work force to raise children, for example. This takes years out of their eventual earning capacity (assuming more time in a career means higher positions and earnings).

Many women work part time, leaving the major bread-winning to their husbands.

A recent study suggests women are less likely to negotiate hard or push for a raise.

Add enough of these types of occurrences together, and yes, on average, women will earn less than men.

Yes, I know Sanity, and allow me to give my personal apologies for all the horrible abuse Republicans and conservatives suffered while Bush was in office.

Say, do you remember that Bill Clinton guy?  I think someone tried to impeach him because he got his dick sucked.

I don't remember who it was that tried that though?

Do you?

You really believe that all that it was too, don't you? In your mind (despite all the evidence to the contrary) there was never a sexual harassment lawsuit, there were no accusations of rape, there wasn't a grand jury, and Bill Clinton didn't perjur himself  while testifying under oath.

You are truly only capable of seeing and hearing that which is convenient for your political mindset, aren't you.

I am impressed, MM. None of that is politically correct, but its all true, and you still posted it despite how it does a disservice to the far left's agenda.

Good job.   [sm=applause.gif]

Rule, I don't know how you missed it but Clinton *was* Impeached by the House (not) for getting a BJ but for *lying about it under oath.*
You CAN get a BJ but you *CAN'T* lie about it under oath!
If he (hadn't) lied about it his presidency would'nt have ended in disgrace.
You should read the book, "The Sociopath Nextdoor."

Popeye might I ask for your opinion concerning the appropriateness of asking a married man about a blowjob.Do you really believe the question should have been asked in the first place?

I would suppose it depends on the circumstances. At the point where the President of the United States of America is having an affair with a subordinate on his staff (Ms. Lewinsky reported to Leon Panetta, who as Chief of Staff reported to President Clinton) and when a year into the affair the President appointed her to a sensitive position in the Pentagon (she became the Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense) - I think a number of questions were in order.

When Harry Stonecipher, who was CEO of Boeing had an affair with another executive and it became public knowledge, he was forced to resign. At the point where the President is sleeping with someone on his own staff issues of sexual harassment and (at the other extreme) favoritism come up.

Appointing her to a sensitive position in the Pentagon is an entirely different matter. Was she qualified? Was she thoroughly investigated prior to being granted a clearance? Was her background more thoroughly scrutinized than others? At the point where a young girl is fooling around with the President and then ends up working at the Pentagon - one of the first questions I'd be asking myself was - is she a spy? Did she play up to President Clinton (who apparently is not that hard to seduce) and then use her "position" to get herself posted somewhere she'd have access to sensitive material?

I'm not saying that this was anything more than a cheap affair - but I can certainly understand how it would be felt that this needed to be thoroughly investigated.

I didnt really follow the sordid mess with Clinton, but I do remember thinking why the hell were his handlers advocating him denying it, why not just tell the truth, the repubs were out for his blood, it was that obvious they were goin to pin something on him, in what world is lying so barefacedly going to achieve anything but loss of presidency ..just a matter of time.
Everyone in the connected world knew he was fucking around, I really didnt give a damn but heard the evidence mount, yet he continued to lie..dumbass dumb dumb ass.
Whoever he had whispering in his ear as to what route to take they really shafted him, without lube and added coarse sand to drive the point home.

Why did that happen Popeye?

Could it be that after years of the Republicans trying to dredge up any dirt they could they finally settled on his infidelity, which should never have been an issue to begin with.

But they relentlessly pursued it, spending $80 million in taxpayers dollars to prove he was unfaithful to his wife.

Then they backed him into a corner by putting him under oath about something that should have been a personal issue.

What is the funniest though is how many of the vocal Republicans that denounced him for his infidelity, one even calling him a scumbag, were later outed for their own indiscretions.

Can you say Larry Craig and the Minneapolis Airport without laughing out loud?

Absolutely and completely disagree with this. The man held the highest office in the land, and honesty period should never be down played in any circumstance to include lying by omission of that fact to his own wife. It was a complete disgrace for all Americans. Even worse is that he tried desperately to weasel his way out of it.

This goes for any who do such regardless of what side of the isle they come from. I do agree that many of these things do become media feeding frenzies but none the less I do not want liars in leadership positions that carry weight in making laws that affect the American people.
