That said, aren't Jewish people a lot more inclined to keep their religious beliefs separate from everything else they know than most Christian denominations? I know that Judaism is very well represented in genetics and paleontology, which are the two branches of biology that a lot of the Christian flavours aren't having at all. Hell, Crick was Jewish, wasn't he? Jewishness encompasses two things - religion and heritage. There are those who are Jewish by religion only, those who are Jewish by heritage but not by religion, and those who are both. (I am both.) For example, Richard Feynman, the Nobel winning physicist, was Jewish by heritage but considered himself to be atheistic. So many "Jews" do not believe. Christians are defined only by their beliefs.

If he were, it might matter, depending on his beliefs. Its entirely subjective, meaning that such things are up to each eligible United States citizen who chooses to vote whether it matters or not.
