I've heard a few others equate their m/s life with their spirituality. I'd enjoy hearing more about that someday, maybe it would make a good thread?

I'll have to do an archive search and see if it's a horse worth resurrecting. ::chuckles::

Excellent question. One way would be for him to tell me he didn't want me anymore and released me/dismissed me. I doubt that would be enough to actually feel like I had my power back, at least in the beginning, but without application the point becomes moot in that respect. My first Master died.. that was a pretty clear indicator of the return of my power. My second Master asked me if I would collar him and be his Mistress.. let me tell you, that power came surging back so fast I thought my head would spin from it. Oh, and I declined the offer and we went our separate ways. If there is another way, I have no idea what it is, but I'm moderately bright, so figure I'll know it if I see it. :)

what I am hearing here is that in all the cases the Dynamics of the D/s stopped flowing... the reason of course is different in both cases that you give. But a common theme seems to be that one or both have stopped spinning the wheel so speak that keeps the dynamics of the relationship going. All cases your Masters held the power... took the power very much like a person seeing some that they are sexual attractived too. I might not have sex with some I find attractive... but, I can't deny the reaction that comes from in seeing someone that is attractive. Isn't there... and I can't deny it's existence... it's a question of what I do about it. Of course when when talk about a relationship... In particular your relationship and many like you... you could no sooner deny that He was who he was to you that you could stop breathing! The very implication of who he was to you immediately conveyed you power unto him. Of course... the moment he stops being the sum of those things that drew your Power... you would regain that power back towards yourself! of course... the beauty of relationships that go on and continue to grow... is it becomes less and less forseeable for the relationship to end.

Thanks for answering

Nice summation and quite accurate in my case. As I said, if there is another way for that power to stop flowing for me, I don't know it.. and, I don't want to know it. ;)

That's where I stand in my relationship with Himself. After almost 10 years, we continue holding hands in the journey's we take together and it just keeps getting better and better. There will not be another Master for me, whether this relationship ends through death or dismissal. Third times a charm and if the charm comes to an end, for whatever reason, I'm not prepared to get back on the horse after this one. It's too close to the Divine and it would be most unfair to any other Master to have me for his slave. I know my limitations and this would truly be an empty vessel for anyone else.

This is a wonderful summary, and one i very closely relate to.

This statement is quite interesting to me, as very recently i have come to discover this sentiment within myself. If you decide to open up that thread again, i would be most interested in it; although i greatly respect if you wish to leave it lie. It is quite a personal subject. Since i am still in the self discovery of this particular element, i don't feel equipped just yet to speak on how it relates to me.

WOW! Eloquently put. Another human who comprehends the complexity of the slave’s innermost soul. Thank you amayos for this reply.

Twice,

I can assure you there are a few here and there who are of like-mind.

What do you call yourself in this lifestyle, (Master, Mistress, submissive, slave, switch, etc…), and why? Define your role and if possible, tell why or how you came to this definition.

I'm sitting here drinking my coffee and trying to wake up ... that's who I am at this moment.

In my everyday life, I am Master to my slave, manager to the employees I manage, father to my children, friend to my friends, Buddhist to my philosophical path, and a compassionate person (still have a ways to go at times) to everyone as much as I can be.

As for the lifestyle, I came to be a Master because I am totally uncomfortable with being anything else but a Master. I like the control I have over my slave because it gives me the security of knowing I am providing for her well-being. It's also an indicator (to me) that I am providing a deep love in the best way I know how to, especially to someone I love and care so much for.

So I suppose being a Master, manager, father, friend, Buddhist, and compassionate person all comes from the same source for me ... making sure others in my life are loved and happy.

Thanks for the correction. I could not remember who did it, so I googled it - guess we blame google?

Bitatrouble, great post, let me say first.

I find that the way this self-definition is answered gives insight into the various personalities. As for me, I like to think that I’m an exceptional Dom and am surprised when others find fault with me, haha. Seriously, I’m a caring Dom who will love, listen, lead, laugh, learn and not leave. That makes her feel good and me, too.

candystripper -> RE: Defining yourself (3/19/2006 10:49:55 AM)

i define myself as "pleasure submissive"; not experienced or knowledgable enough to be a slave; not willing or interested in pain or humiliation; but i could be nothing else today.

LATEXBABY64 -> RE: Defining yourself (3/19/2006 11:12:21 AM)

defining ones sefl is defining ones desteny you can be anything you want its all a mind set there two types of identification what we see ourselves and what society see us as i have met many in my years in the lifestyle some truned out to be great people others got poisoned or lost into the words of the selfish leadership who only used them for self gain it all comes back to selfworth do you value you or dose your value depend on what others say becareful there are five areas that lead to self destruction in this maslow was very good at pointing this out in our relationships needs if someone would would be more then happy to point out his works

:)

Lol.Knight! But in truth there are quite a few Dom/Dommes out there who think exactly that. I cannot tell you during my 6 year search for a new Master (mine of 18 years had passed away) how many Doms (many of whom turned out to be married and cheating), tried to convince me all i really needed was a collar around my neck. I was searching as most of us are for the One. Luckily i found him, He is perfect, and to my surprise so is his co-Domme (Seems like they were having a 2 for 1 sale in Indy). So when a Dom/Domme recognizes the psychological and emotional complexity of subs/slaves I always like to say bravo.

In the past I would have used the descriptions of submissive, bordering on slave; Monogamous with Polymororous tendencies. These were defined in my past relationship. Now, though, I would define myself as floundering [:)]

RiotGirl -> RE: Defining yourself (3/19/2006 8:18:37 PM)

a purple mooooooooooooo cow. i am a purple moo cow with black spots and my eyes are blue. Sometimes i want to define myself as a white bengal tiger.. actually i think i'd like to hug one. But Tigers are abit intimidating up close.

Nice post tho

KittenWithaTwist -> RE: Defining yourself (3/19/2006 8:38:23 PM)

Right now?

I'm a bisexual S&M switch. I'm attracted to both males and females. I engage in S&M (only) situations. I do not (at this time) engage in D/s situations. And I am both a top and a bottom.

KittenWithaTwist -> RE: Defining yourself (3/19/2006 8:43:32 PM)

That would be Meredith Brooks...

darkinshadows -> RE: Defining yourself (3/20/2006 4:10:49 AM)

From the perspective of owned - 'I' do not define myself.
The only definition that matters, is the one He desires & decides.
