It was a typo. I thinks he looks funny..

kittinSol -> RE: Go Get Him, Al! (12/18/2009 8:58:28 AM)

Admit it: you're just jealous of his beauty and charisma.

Did you think the same way when the liberals compared George Bush to a monkey for 8 years ? I don't really see the difference. They thought that was funny, I think Obama is funny.

I thought people comparing George Bush to a chimp was an insult to chimps.

The simple fact is that calling any black person any kind of a primate (other than human) has racist overtones - even if if was not meant to be so. The fact that you can get away with calling a white person a chimp without it seeming to be racist but not a black person may not seem fair to you but that's just the way it is. If you seek equality in name calling then perhaps we should stop calling white people ape, chimp, etc.

Except for Al Franken... because he looks like an ape with a bad case of hemorrhoids.

He's still more attractive than Lieberman, Bush and McCain combined, in my oh so very humble opinion [8D] .

I've finally reached a point where I'm actually glad I voted for him.

A year later you've decided you're glad you voted for him. That's as glowing a recommendation as I can think of.

Yeah, and it's about the most favorable thing I can say about him, too. I pretty much share Marc's opinion of him, but at the end of the day I finally decided that he was somewhat less unacceptable than Norm Coleman, so I walked in and pulled the lever. Then walked out and threw up.

That's about the only thing that ever motivates me to vote anymore, really. With the exception of Obama, for the last several elections I haven't voted for anyone - when i vote at all (which is rarely), it's to vote against some republican who's pissed me off so much I'll vote for just about anyone with a pulse in order to get the sonofabitch out of office. I don't ever vote against a democrat, because that would mean voting for a republican, and I hate all republican politicians more than any democratic politician.

I've completely given up on the American government and the American political process, and for the most part don't even want to be bothered pretending to be a participant. But, whereas I only despise most democratic politicians, I despise all republican politicians, and despise all republicans politicians more than I despise any democratic politicians. So if that dickhead Franken wants to dedicate at least a portion of his 6 years skewering republicans, I find value in it, and consider the vote well-spent.

Did you complain when John McCain refused to let a Dem have 30 seconds more time when they where giving Bush expanded powers for the war???

Musicmystery -> RE: Go Get Him, Al! (12/18/2009 11:22:49 AM)

Lieberman is opposing positions he used to support--by way of payback to mistreatment when he left the Dems.

That he would derail something so important (or so he thought formerly--earlier buy-ins to Medicare) over a pet peeve, leaves me thinking indeed, OK, you had your fun, glad you're happy, now sit down and shut up. It's over.

Eeeeewwwwwwwww...

Making out with Al Franken? I know you have a masochisitic streak in you but there is a fine line between kinky and mentally disturbed. [:D]

willbeurdaddy -> RE: Go Get Him, Al! (12/18/2009 1:44:42 PM)

i'd say wait till Al is paid back when he wants an extension, but then I realized he can't put enough coherent thoughts together to fill 5 minutes, much less go over.

{snicker} Given that your post was made more than three hours after mine, I'm assuming that directing your response to me was not a mistake. Well, it was, actually, a mistake. But I assume it was intentional. I'm not sure how my post can be interpreted as complaining about Franken. Hint: the Motherfucker from Connecticut is Lieberman.

Also, a note on Franken, didn't he play the guy in the gorilla suit in Trading Places? I'm not a Franken-hater, but I think the DFL could've put up a better candidate.

"Go Get Him, Al!"
What's he going to do, tell him a bad joke?
(He's got plenty of those!)

TheHeretic -> RE: Go Get Him, Al! (12/18/2009 3:42:51 PM)

Franken was one of the stoned baggage handlers in that movie, Luci.

A lot of people seem to forget that the Democrats already tried to get rid of Joe, and badly embarrassed themselves in the failure.

submittous -> RE: Go Get Him, Al! (12/18/2009 3:53:02 PM)

I think Joe is in for lots of feedback from Dems and will end up the loser for his actions...

Brain -> RE: Go Get Him, Al! (12/18/2009 3:55:27 PM)

'' that you voted for that clown tells us everything we need to know. ''

Yes, and it's all good!

The democratic voters of Connecticut didn't fail at kicking Joe off their ticket. The failure to remove him belongs to the national leadership (including Obama) who campaigned for the ass and let him get away with all sorts of lies. If the Senate leadership had pulled his seniority the minute he declared as an Independent (excuse me, as a member of the Connecticut for Lieberman party) there's a good chance he would've lost. He still only won because most of the republicans in the state voted for him. And there's no shortage of dems who regret their votes for him in the primary and the general. The grassroots have nothing to be embarrassed about re: going after Lieberman in 06.

Trust me, liberal democrats haven't forgotten for one second that if the assholes in D.C. had listened to their own base (and the majority of Conn. democrats) we wouldn't have this fuckwad to deal with.

Thats funny, I thought they went to the voting booth. Blame it on whomever you like, Obama didnt cast a single vote for him (though he is probably the best candidate that he ever campaigned for)

Brain -> RE: Go Get Him, Al! (12/18/2009 4:33:56 PM)

According to this, Harry Reid could have had a better strategy.

Which lawmakers can, and can't, play health-care game

Not everyone in Congress has enough game to bring reform across home plate.
