I don't know what Lucienne "caught" here, but outing scammers on public boards is a bit of a catch-22. Let's say, for example, that someone writes me from Chicago, Indiana. Well, Chicago is in Illinois. If I post on an open forum that Mistress SuperPerfect doesn't even know the difference between Illinois and Indiana, and "she" reads my post, I've just helped her be a better scammer when she goes after her next mark. On the other hand, maybe she really is a she, and was coffee-deprived (or kinda dumb) when she wrote me that email.

In general, I'd suggest you only provide specific Nottingham-like details in private emails, and be more general when you post in a public forum. No usernames, no email details. You don't want to help her if she really is a con artist, you don't want to diss her if she isn't, and really the most important thing is for you to get a better sense of how this whole online dating thing works, so you can spend your time courting women who might be interested in you for real.

Another little thing I've noticed: when a con-artist is caught out, they often fire a volley of furious insults at the catcher. They're angry at being caught and they also want to make you think that you've got them appallingly, shamefully, wrong. It is, of course, bluster and further proof that you've sussed them. Someone who's genuine would simply tut, then think of a way to put your fears at rest.

I would have happily used the money. if I knew she was genuine. This thread was about how I could ascertain whether she was genuine, not about me giving my money away.

I you have extra money and want to help deserving women out, then I suggest a donation to a woman's shelter.

Otherwise, wait until you meet a woman who has proven herself truly worthy of your devotion and then you can spoil her rotten ;-)
