So I debate like I'm playing the dozens. To me, it's more fun and more entertaining to score points off my opponent by trash-talking them while also making a strong argument, than to just make the strong argument and get nothing in response but the infinite number of digressions people on the internet engage in to avoid saying "Crap, I think you're right and I have to change my thinking." The thing about that is that the dozens is played by two people. Mano e mano. It's like a sport, and there's a code of conduct. And one of the things that's not supposed to happen is that the audience isn't supposed to jump out of their seats, rush the stage and gang-stomp the away player. That's not cool. There's no sport in ganging up and overpowering someone. Sigh. Okay. Presuming this is valid, and you let whoever you were debating know the rules ahead of time, which one of us was your intended opponent? Because if it was mano a mano, quien tiene la otra mano? This really breaks down for me because I saw you posting to multiple people...if you're going to break it down into 'opponent' and 'audience' I really can't see which is which. I think you're kinda cool and I don't know what to say about the whole women ruining the internet thing. But when I was talking with you, I didn't know we were going to be playing a snark game. You can't expect me to abide by the rules of a game I never said I wanted to play. But anyway, as far as audience participation goes, what happened here kinda reminds me of when that Kramer guy started yelling "you're a nigger" at hecklers. The audience was fucking with him and he lost it, and he looked like a fool for it. If you do consider some of the posters here to be 'audience' rather than 'opponents' just let them heckle. Because by responding, you turn them into opponents. So yeah...just relax, stop blaming us all for 'ganging up' on you because its not doing you any favours. What are you expecting? Us to say "I'm sorry, you're right, next time I get into a snark contest with you I'll wave the white flag as soon as other people start agreeing with me?" Because in "playing the dozens" or snarking back and forth generally you're trying to get the audience on your side. It means you have the better snark. The loser gets laughed at more...that's pretty much the point of having the audience there. I don't know, obviously you can do what you want, but you really don't seem to want to accept that people don't always respond in the way you'd like them to respond. And that blaming them and saying "You should have done this instead" is one of those situations where you're not going to get the response you want.
