what were the relationship mistakes you made after you found out about bdsm

Not being aggressive enough.

Doubting my instincts.

when i see profiles that say in big big leters i'm taken/owned etc, i wonder how long before her ass is back here

i don't discuss my personal affairs on here so i don't look the fool if it goes bad

osf, i never joined these boards as a dating site, and yes i know i am weird. Someone told me about Cm when i first got into BDSM and when i joined all i saw was 'dating site' It was many months later, while in a chat room someone mention to me there is a message board too. When i started to read the boards I became hooked. I would be surprise if i didnt make a fool out of myself, but i do not see me as a fool just someone who is willing to accept her mistakes and grow. if another can see through my experiences and it helps them good, if not it doesn't lessen who i am. i have no concern what people on cm or any internet site think of me.

what i guess im talking about is the ones that are here 2 weeks and all of a sudden they have the perfect dom and a week later they are back

what especially annoys me is the ones male or female, that talk badly about failed relationships and their ex's

just say it was a mistake , maybe on both sides and move on

It happens. I'll see a new profile, think 'hmmm, looks interesting' and then an hour later said newcomer is collared to the "best dom in the world" and off to whever to be with them in TPE bliss.

*shrug*

I just figure they're new. If their level of discernment is to submit fully to the first person to come along and offer them a collar - then I know they're not for me. I don't get annoyed at them, I feel kind of sorry for them that they're going to have to learn a lot of relationship basics the hard way.

Oh don't be all red-faced, we've all done it.

Gulp.  Now I don't feel quite so bad, knowing that I'm not the only one.

Hee hee! Yes, this is why i don't use a cam anymore, and i don't care when guys flip out because i don't have one.  If they're the right Owner/Master for me, he understands....

Here here! I've been there too - much to my own red faced ness (not quite so red now)

but they are all perfect in the first two weeks :).

i almost did that, only because i dont like to meet or chat with more than one. He told me that on Collarme you needed to put under consideration anytime you were planning on meeting someone lol hahaha. It is funny, ok, i did it i admit. Then i got bombarded with emails telling me i had only been on two weeks, not to do that yet. When i explained it was because we were meeting on Saturday, lol! they all laughed and after that, i made several good friends who i now bounce stuff off of, so it was a harmless experience and i made some friends :).

I think for me my first mistake and one of the reason I still to this day consider my self an amateur dom is that I jumped in feet first not realizing how deep the waters were. I pursued a sub who already knew every thing she wanted and expected too much of me. I failed to deliver and it was a very embarrassing experience for me.

Yes indeed I did. I was over excited at my first sub. That I rushed in. Now I take the time to feel things out, explore both my self and any prospecting sub who seem interested in me.

I'm thinking my post was a bit misleading.  It wasn't early in my BDSM adventure.  In fact, I thought I knew what I was doing.  I knew the safety measures, taught them at munches, ran clubs etc.  I knew what I liked, and wanted.  I wasn't a rookie.  What I didn't know, was that I could take all the recommended safey measures, and still find myself in such a bad situation.

He wasn't a total stranger.  I met him at a munch, and spent a good bit of time getting to know him.  We discussed limits.  Talked on the phone, and met publicly and on the surface seemed compatible.  People liked him.  There was nothing in his demeanor, that indicated he was a threat.  He wasn't pushy...or anything else that 'new and delicate subbies' are warned to watch out for.  On the surface, he was great.

Beneath the surface, he was sexually dysfunctional, and the only way he could find gratification was to do things that were not concensual.  Things that had been agreed upon as off limits.  I won't elaborate.  The specifics aren't really relevant.

Afterward, I spent a great deal of time trying to figure out what I did wrong to have ended up in the situation I found myself in.  It took some time but I came to terms with the fact that you really can do all the right things and still end up in a bad situation.  My mistake, was believing that all the safety measures I'd been taught (and taught others myself) were a guarantee of no harm.

Upon reflection, I felt as if I'd implied something in my first post that was inaccurate and by omission - untrue.  Just felt some clarification was in order.

That post say me something. If you buy and read the book "The Sociopath Next Door" By Martha Stout you propably find out what you did wrong. It is very easy to end up in those situations when it is a psychopat, or sociopath as you call it, you are dealing with.

That book is terrifying in many ways. The person who wrote, "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" which became the Dexter TV series was inspired by that book.

Her lesson is a good one, there are no guarantees, just things that reduce the likely hood of a bad occurrence. Just like any safety measure from a helmet when biking to a safe word. They help but are no sure thing. Be on your guard and do your best to learn, not beat yourself up when something bad happens. Sometimes all you can learn is that you're lucky to have made it out in one piece.

I love when someone posts and then adamantly says I didn't ask for you (put name of who you didn't want opinion from) to post.  Guess what... Internet... free for everyone.... free for anyone to give opinions, advice etc; etc; etc.  I got to ask   did they get sick of you on A L T?  I know I sure did.
