joether -> RE: An Intelligence Fetish? Really? And is it shallow? (1/8/2010 2:54:02 PM)

Are we talking about intelligence, or the actual biology of the homo sapien brain? The concept of intelligence, is the same of that of the human ear in regards to hearing. Rather, the brain has understood with time, from information recieved in the ears, what a sound is, and means. Meaning, you can hear a foreign language you dont know. Is the other person intelligent? Without other information, beyond what ever it is they are saying, you have no idea. But, your brain, given time, could learn to understand that language, so when the sounds do come, the brain automatically makes the translation, of the words. Now, the concept of a 'fetish' regards of an object, giving sexual stimulation to the person. Males seein'g doll'ed up models may not be a fetish. But in the same situtation, in which those models are head to toe in latex, would be a fetish. Some people have a foot fetish. The smell, look, or what ever it is, turns them on. So, yes, the human brain, if seen as an object, could be considered an object. But we don't think of the person's brain directly, we consider its whole, in regards to "intelligence". Now, whether there is a fetish for intelligence, is debatable. It would not past muster under the conventional defination of the word, 'fetish'. But, languages, are created and enhanced by the people that use it. Why is it, the word 'Spam' has multiple definations, for things, that are unrelated to each other? So maybe, a new defination for 'fetish' includes concepts (i.e. intelligence), that are tied to biological hardware (i.e. the human brain)? There may even be a word in the English language that covers that defination. I dont know. I've had alot of people, who just rather listen to what I have to say on a subject. In games of strategy, people either want to be on my team, or don't play against me. They say, I will figure out, how to win, regardless of the odds. I don't like to show off my intelligence to people. I feel its a bit egotisical. Sure, if someone asks a question, I'll give my two cents. But to say "you should listen to me, because I alone, know how to save the human race from total and utter annilation' is both egotisical, and a bit insane. But in write this posting, I am guessing some of you might suspect I'm not "a few clowns short of a full circus".
