I tend to think this is how I go about it as well. If there is no possibility for humor in a relationship, I don't want anything to do with it. With my Master, I am never seriously trying to push his buttons, just make him laugh.

It doesn't always mean perpetually bratty. It just means we have very high expectations of a dominant and we won't submit to one we don't consider worthy. And just because someone is submissive doesn't mean she is willing to submit to anyone who spells his or her name with an upper case letter. As far as brattiness goes, here it is a good thing. It only happens when I'm feeling calm and confident and willing to initiate play. When I'm totally obedient and subservient is when I'm closed off emotionally and afraid. For us, that's a bad thing.
