****Arpig, how much distress are you getting from me starting a topic about it after 4 years?
None, which is why I didn't start a thread complaining about it. I only asked because its clear it does distress you in some degree, and to be 100% honest I cannot for the life of me understand why.

I'm kinda.....disappointed.....in the view so common in these replies that only major problems are worth fixing.
Its not that...most of us just don't see it as a problem in the first place.

DCWoody -> RE: Please appoint some mods for the other side. (1/8/2010 10:30:45 AM)

Ah, slight misunderstanding. I wondered how distressed (throwing a fit, tantrum, imploding even) you think I am, based on having started one calm thread about it after ~4 years?

DCWoody,

I can't even sign into the board with my new account. My expectations aren't very high at present. Maybe you need to increase your staff in support as well.

Ugh, some points to make:

First, I'd appreciate people not speculating about what I am or am not searching for or what people will or won't reply to...not least because all speculation in here other than female/sub is so far wrong.

The report system clearly does not work, pointing to it is laughable.

Sure it isn't the biggest problem in the world, but that's a foolish argument.....I can (and have been for years) just ignore such profiles, in the same way people can ignore spam that turns up in their inbox....that doesn't mean that anyone would use a email provider that doesn't have some sort of spam filter.

If it is indeed possible to filter out all results with nigeria/ghana/whatever that would help a little, and I'd love to know how.

I refuse to accept claims without explanation that collarme is somehow uniquely unable to have mods.

We're talking about a website...that seemingly brings in significantly more in ad revenue than hosting costs....that's plagued by scammers, spammers and miscellaneous fake profiles...and, for some extremely unclear reason, is unwilling/unable to appoint mods. I just find that inexplicable.

SInce you have no idea what hosting costs, much less bandwith, server space to house a million free members, plus their pictures, emails, forum posts from the very beginning of the site, and other assorted gobbldeegook, much less what the revenue is, I would think that the reason things are unclear is because you do not know all the facts. the only ones that know it all are the owners. No offense, but last I checked, noone had to explain anything to you anyway. I would suggest you quit hurting your pretty head thinking about it. You are not likely to get the answers you seek or to your satisfaction.

Exactly w here is the line to be drawn?  Its a free site, open to anyone who wants to agree to the terms of use policies.  The site provides the options to report a profile, and to block and ignore a profile, which puts the ability to choose in the individuals hands.  Seriously, what more do you want for your money?
WinD

Ha. Spend 5 minutes browsing sub female profiles and let us know if you think it's a 'grey area' problem.

I have been here for........however many years........and spent untold minutes browsing. I see no problem.  So there are some with obviously pirated photos.........big deal. Enjoy the eye candy, then hide them and move on.

Maybe we should delete all whiners without profiles.......

To the OP:  Which actually brings up an interesting point.  This is obviously your pet peeve.   So what happens when the next person wants a Mod against "their" pet peeves?   Just like me, I don't know if it's a peeve or not, but when I see someone or someone sends me an email that I want to know more about, I"m disappointed when their profile is blank.  Should we ban all lazy people that won't complete their profiles?   This is a social site, so they should be require to fill out a profile so that I can socialize damn it!.....lol    Pretty soon there would be no one allow to post here.  Besides, some of those profiles might very well be real (I do have a cousin, who is black, that has white skin and blonde hair...we in the south call that a "throw back")....lol

another pet peeve...I hate when my homepage pops up some big ole c**k is in ma face, without even dinner or a howdy doo....I just simply put hide so it won't do that again, and I go on with my day

I know it's annoying, but you just gotta click on it....go damn here's another profile I hate, and then click the hide button and move on to the next.

Please hit report photo when you see a picture that you think is innappropriate, and those WILL get reviewed by a human. Whether the staff agrees or not, at least the picture was reviewed...By the way, penii pictures and/or female genital pics are not allowed primary pictures.

With respect, it's fairly obvious that collarme is a site well in the black.
The entire thread is all based on my OP, a simple.....polite....request to appoint some mods for collarme.
It is very clear now that the answer is 'no', and I accept (but disagree with the (extremely limited) reasoning provided for) that...but the discussion has continued as discussions do.

How do you know it's a site well in the black?
You can't possibly know whether or not a site is making money just due to the amt. of members and/or advertising.

Of course you disagree! We have come to expect that of you and wouldn't expect anything less. At least you are consistant. Sorry you feel so abused.

They may be. They may not be. You aren't entitled to look at their expenses. You don't know how in the black they are. Let's compare this to any other "free" thing. Would you feel comfortable insisting that a soup kitchen that gives free meals take on more volunteers than they were comfortable with or felt they could manage effectively because five people out of a fifty felt they had to wait too long?

Abused?

@Cali....yeah, I'm the person in this thread jumping to conclusions.

There is a difference between not knowing the exact details of someones finances and being unable to tell whether they're making money or not.

Collarme has ample advertising & has been in the top 10,000 alexa for years...it's not exactly a wild guess. The first website value estimator google threw up gave 200,000....and that's just for the URL, not taking a continuation of the membership/content.

I suppose technically I'm jumping to a conclusion, but it's hardly polevaulting.

I never originally (or indeed at all, or will in future) criticised the owner(s) for making money out of the site, nor suggested they should spend a single penny on moderation.....as I assume they don't for collarchat, it is merely an aside...but an aside I happen to be correct about :)

Edited:Perhaps a different site I saw bitmaps on.

RedMagic1 -> RE: Please appoint some mods for the other side. (1/9/2010 2:21:33 PM)

Are you going to answer AquaticSub's question?

DCWoody -> RE: Please appoint some mods for the other side. (1/9/2010 2:25:42 PM)

You mean the comparison between moderation of a website and service at a soup kitchen?!?

Hell no I'm not answering that, is that seriously the level of discussion around here?

RedMagic1 -> RE: Please appoint some mods for the other side. (1/9/2010 2:30:54 PM)

If you mean, "At a higher level than you like to speak," the answer, at least sometimes, is yes.

Think about it.  Thousands of people log in every day.  For free.  This is the most accessible BDSM site in the world.  I was in China last week.  Alt.com is blocked by the Great Firewall.  CollarMe is not.  I met one of the top dominatrixes in Beijing.  She told me how glad she was that CollarMe existed, because it was just about the only online BDSM resource in the entire country.

This entire project is maintained by a handful of volunteers.  If the volunteers stopped doing it, a major international resource would collapse.  And you can't be bothered to spend two seconds per profile to hit the hide button.  Sure, the site has problems.  Everything has problems.  You, however, need a serious reality check if you think Aqua was asking a foolish question.

Jeffff -> RE: Please appoint some mods for the other side. (1/9/2010 2:35:25 PM)

But Red?... that makes his rant seem insignificant. That would be wrong.

Jeff

DCWoody -> RE: Please appoint some mods for the other side. (1/9/2010 2:50:03 PM)

No, just no.

I can be bothered, I have mentioned....I've been using collarme.com for years, I don't think I'm being spectaculorly...or even minorly...unreasonable by making a post about this problem.....nor do I think it is a sign of me crying, being unable to cope, imploding, panicing, being distressed....and I forget the others people've said...you get the idea. Edited to add:I don't think it qualifies as a rant either :p

I appreciate that the mods are volunteers (at least I assume they are), I did not criticise that....the point that there are worthy people willing to volunteer was my point.

And I do not think I need a reality check, the implication that I would demand a free meal at a soup kitchen and complain about the service is damn close to being libellous, and no I am not threatening to sue, asking for it to be deleted, or anything.....but I am certainly not going to reply to such a 'question'. I made a short, calm, polite post to a forum....I think some people should think carefully about why this drew such extreme responses. I am not and have not intended to insult or criticise anyone, calm down. :)

Meaning you?  If so, then I don't agree.  I see someone who takes personal offense at message board posts from strangers, for example by calling a metaphor used by another poster "damn close to being libellous."  I also see you attempting to use a patronizing tone with me -- asking me to calm down when I am not upset -- when anyone reading can see that you are more likely to have self-control issues.

If a mod is reading this thread, my two cents are that the OP is not an appropriate candidate to volunteer for the site, because he doesn't have a good enough understanding of the difference between online and real life.
