You must do what you feel is right, of course. Presenting your case to me isn't helpful to you as I'm not a moderator. I'd present your case to the mods via the Support channel and let them take it from there.

i'm not presenting it to you, the point is to get others to tell what has happened to them

You would accomplish more by encouraging them to make use of the systems in place to alert the moderators to unacceptable behavior.

This is not said to be mean or drive you away.

However, if you don't like how the forums are run, it would more a productive use of your time to find a website that is to your liking than to start threads complaining. If you use the search function, you'll find many, many, many threads have been posted over the years that are identical to this one. The moderators do not seem to have agreed with those posters so I wouldn't hold my breath that things are going to change now.

why should i allow you to drive me away?

i don't mind the way they are run, i have no problem with that, it's just a dozen or so that in my opinion misuse them

AquaticSub -> RE: harrassment on the threads (1/6/2010 11:19:14 PM)

As I said, the post was not to drive you away. Reread it or, if you feel I'm harassing you and attempting to drive you away, report me.

osf -> RE: harrassment on the threads (1/6/2010 11:23:09 PM)

those that don't agree with the thread are not compelled to read or contribute if they wish not to

Umm... if you are referring to me with this, that isn't what I said. My post was:

Truthfully, there have been several members here who have started their participation on the boards in a less than stellar manner. Some of them turned out just fine... after we peeled them off the ceiling and got them calmed down a little

We dont have to agree with you to post in this forum. Also if only people who agreed with you posted you would be very lonely and I am very sure you would start some other inane thread to try to capture someone...ANYONES attention.

Nor can you compel me to stop pointing out that this thread won't accomplish anything but using the report button will if someone is actually harassing you.

Then please report the post and let the mods decide.

That's a matter of opinion. I find this thread interesting. I think I'll stay and continue to provide my input.

If you don't, then it clearly doesn't actually bother you and you have started yet another thread for the sole purpose of garnering further negative attention.

Thanks for the blessing. [;)]

osf -> RE: harrassment on the threads (1/6/2010 11:31:50 PM)

like you said you have every right to be here

xxblushesxx -> RE: harrassment on the threads (1/6/2010 11:32:17 PM)

There have been times I have felt harassed on this board and on others.
What I have found, through participating on MANY forums, is that if one or two people are disagreeing with me, they're just wrong. *lol*
But if almost everyone is disagreeing with me, and saying something different than the point I am trying to make, I need to consider either my stance, or how I am explaining it. (sometimes both)
Communities tend to police themselves to a point, and while it's fine to take a strong stand when you absolutely NEED to (in order to live with yourself) it's a bit nonsensical to be somewhat (or seem somewhat) new to a community and just ride roughshod over those who have been there and contributed quite a bit to it.

Unless of course, you're secretly a subbie who is into humiliation...If so, call me on my 900 line, and we can talk! [;)]

What's strange, Aqua, is how much his posts have deteriorated in a relatively few short years, but then, his age appears "flexible" as well.

I would think an MRI would be in order.  Sure would explain a lot.
