It seemed wrong to just toss in bass everyhwere he says trout

Status: offline 		My parents live near some excellent walleye fishing, and guys will be lined up cheek-to-cheek while they're running.  It doesn't make for a lot of tranquility.

Yeah, I can see that. Oddly enough I don't eat fish..:)  I bend the barbs down or buy barbless hooks before I tie flies.

It helps keep me fucking sane.  Even do the ice fishing shit to help break the monotony.

Status: offline 		I've never cared for fishing, but I love being by the water. When my buddies would go fishing, I'd go too, without a pole, but with plenty of beer; we'd sip on a few, shoot the shit a little, and just let all the world's bullshit go away for awhile.

Status: offline 		Jeffff, why do ya think I moved from Chicago to south Florida 33 years ago? I can fish here most days of the year.

But, as Level says, over the years I found the fishing part less and less important. I also often use barbless hooks and mostly now like to go around in a skiff or kayak just to be in that spectacular environment.

When I was first learning to fly fish, a wise old guide tolde there are four stages in a fly fisherman's life.
Stage one: you want to catch the most fish.
Stage two: you want to catch the biggest fish.
Stage three: you want to catch the smartest fish.
Stage four: you just want to understand the soul of the river.

Spring soon come.

I am not yet that evolved.... I like to actually catch them. I will say, however that it isn't necessary that I do catch them. It is just necessary that they are there.

Thats why they call it fishing, not catching. I continue to tell myself that the occasional skunking, it good for the soul.

When there is ice on the ponds, I go to the seafood section at the grocery store, in addition to the liquor section......then I sit on my sofa and lament the fuckin winter.

Status: offline 		I don't do Ice fishing either.... I started tying flies..... so far very few of them look fish-able.

Luckily fish aren't that picky.

Status: offline 		Usually when Dad was alive, we would go check the troutlines, catching catfish like crazy. Selling them to supplment his SSI. I prefer white bass fishing and soon the season will be here. I should get me a license and some gear and just go to the lake, just Mom and me. I know she will complain but we are fishing for a piece of the past, for a memory of my father who passed away while checking the troutlines one last time.

Heck, is it crappie season yet?

(Truly, I don't get it....so...you fish....you spend all day long trying to hook a fish....you get one....you wasted 10 fucking hours X whatever the fuck you make per hour....gas, car, all the shit....and it still tastes like fucking fish. Seems like a no brainer to me....fish fuck or fight).

Kinda simple if you ask me?
