What everybody else has said already, Linda. I'm very sorry for your loss. He was one of the good guys, and I'm gutted to hear that he's gone. He'll definitely be missed on here.

I send my deepest sympathies for your loss. I always enjoyed reading your husband's intelligent and compassionate questions, remarks and insights.  He will be greatly missed in the political threads by everyone here, I believe.  Thank you for your extraordinary kindness in letting us know, Linda.

Life changes fast.
Life changes in the instant.
You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends.

Those were the first words Joan Didion, a favorite author of mine, wrote after her husband died of a heart attack. They form the opening to her powerful book The Year of Magical Thinking, which limned the agony of losing a spouse.

I enjoyed Jeff's posts, and I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

Warmest sympathies to you and your family.

Well... that's very disheartening and upsetting to hear.  My heartfelt sympathies to you and those around you.

Dear Linda and family,
May your joyous memories sustain you in your deepest sorrow.  Jeff is missed.

From the Prophet, Khalil Gibran:

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.
