ORIGINAL: mnottertail I am acquainted with Boston Politics and Boston Cops. Old BAC guy here, smoked a funnie while passing a bottle around with the Governor of Mass and the Chief of police guy thingie Commissioner or 4 star guy whoever at a Patriots game in our little outing, I worked for the grandson of James Curley, did dinner with him at the Chandlery at the bottom of Admirals Hill there and happended to ask, why is all the italian wise guys and irish wise guys dont get along in Boston, where amongst all the italian wise guys (italian joint) He stood up and at a roar said, because all those fuckin guineas talk into microphnes, and only got swift glances. I can tell all kinda cop stories, as can anyone who is familiar with the area, and it aint like you are going to pick anyone outta that area, or anyone ever been in that area for office thats pristine, not even a fuckin yokel like Mitt Romney. Ron Ron, yeah, it's a funny place isn't it? Whitey Bulger the former speaker of the mass house's BROTHER, pretty much wiped out the "Italians" in Boston single handedly, he cut a deal with that FBI Agent "Zip" Connolly who's in prison for murder in Fla. and "wired" them all for a "pass" on all his activities! (They were from the same neighborhood in S. Boston) So, the Boston cops would put a wire on him and his buddy Zip would get wind of it (Zip worked with the infamous Mass AG's office in his FBI capacity) and Whitey would always "mysteriously" find the bug. And of course the same would happen when the FBI tried to wire him! And when they finally did get a warrent for Whitey he was gone that day in 95' I think and on "the lamus" ever since when Zip warned him that they had an arrest warrent for him. He really did a number on the Anguilo bros, Gennaro (Jerry), Angelo, Tommy and one or two more I forget their names though. Years ago Gennaro was on his boat in Gloucester, Mass when he was boarded by the C.G. and he was drunk and slapped one of our guys and they arrested him and from what I heard on the grapevine wearn't very "gentlemanly" about it. (they kind of roughed him up a bit.) Funny, when I was a kid we used to buy fireworks from his son or nephew one in the North end. They start them out early. They just buried Gennaro not too long ago with full military honors as he was in the U.S. Navy in ww2. There was some controversy about that but he did serve and was entitled. Whitey got him on tape plenty! He died in prison. Now Whitey is "officially" charged in 23 or 29 murders I think, a few of which he did himself and of course with his right hand man Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi. Whitey always was a "hands on kinda guy" and didn't drink, smoke do drugs and worked out at the gym regularly. One time he took a guy who he suspected of stealing from him out in his boat about 20 miles off the coast and tied the guy up and put heavy chains on him. He fucked with the guy for about an hour and decided to give him a "second chance". After they got in and the guy left thankfull for his life The Rifleman asked him why he didn't just wack him and he said "because he'll be the best advertisement there is not to steal from me now!" lol But, according to Howie Carr Whitey is "suspected" in as many as *80* murders! Eighty! Holy shit, that's a lot of shooting, stabbing, strangling and,...burying! You'd have to be in good shape to do eighty murders, right? One of my friends who now lives down here in M.B. worked for the Suffolk Co. Sherriff's Dept and he could tell a few stories himself. I don't know about these days but the Boston cops always,..."had their hands out" in those days (80's and 90's) and a lot of them had Cadillacs that they "never drove to work." A LOT of them got busted for drugs, payoffs, and even a few murders, all kinds of stuff that cops should never be doing. It was not a good time to be "in the rackets" with Whitey at the helm! You could get wacked if he even thought you were trying to steal or "were in the wrong neighborhood" or were dealing drugs and not paying him his vig. There was incredable corruption in Boston in those days. Howie Carr exposed a lot of crooked pols, judges and cops and his life was threatened for it more than once. I gave him some info once about this crooked state Rep. Thomas "Dumbo" Palumbo (another lawyer who thinks they know how to "run things!") and he did an article about it and the guy was thrown out of office! Seems some documents kind of "fell into my hands" from my cousin who is "associated" with some "Irish" people up that way who wanted "Dumbo" to go away without having to.....well you know what I mean. I still have copies of the document and Howie's article about it. The stupid prick, I probably saved his life and he doesn't even know, doesn't even have the slightest clue to how close he came. Yup, "Kennedy Country." Ron, if you want to read an excellent book about some of that stuff get "The Brothers Bulger" by Howie Carr. I'm *still* waiting for my autographed copy to arrive!
